Earlier this year a Time Warner operator called me up offering a reasonable rate for basic cable ($35/Mo) plus free Showtime for one year. It seemed like a good deal to me so after not having cable for 4 years, i took the bait and signed up.

The installer came a week later, hooked up a cable box, radioed HQ and from that point on, i became a subscriber.

A few days later, after getting to know my 'new toy' (cable box), i realized that i did not get any of the Showtime channels. I called Time Warner and after a lengthy hold time, i spoke to another operator who told me that the offer expired some time between when the solicitor called me and when the technician came to install my cable box.

The said that they can not give me what was originally offered (Free Showtime) because that promo code is no longer in their system and the only thing they could give me were the promotional offers they currently had for new customers (free HBO for 3 months) or an HBO Cinemax offer for a discounted price.

I was upset that the solicited offer did not stand. It was the reason i signed up in the first place. After speaking with managers, they all said the same thing.

In the end, the person i talked to told me to go for the free HBO for 3 months, and he would put a note in my account that after the 3 months, I would get another pay channel for free and to keep doing so over the course of a year. I got the person's Name and ID# at Time Warner.

My three months are up. I am getting charged for HBO. I called back, and after another LENGHTY hold time (16 minutes), I explained my situation, gave the operator's name and ID# and got nowhere.

The operator and his manager both told me that they do not have any promotional offers at this time and my only option is to pay.

All i want is the offer that the solicitor originally baited me with. I had no intentions of getting cable if it wasn't for this solicitor.

I was so furious at the two new operators and how they were unwilling to appease me that i asked to have my cable disconnected. They refused to do so and told me i have to call back at another time. I couldn't believe what i was hearing.

You can sign up whenever you want, but you can't disconnect!?!?

This is a terrible way to run a business and to treat a customer. I am going to put my latest HBO charges in dispute and discontinue anything i have ever had to do with this company (including the 3 yr old internet account).
