Here's yet another damning yet legit complaint for the Time Warner Cable file, a game they tried to play with me over the fact they charge you for the upcoming month of service, not the previous month.

I started using Time Warner with a 3-month internet promotion. They have a few different tiers of speed. Instead of getting their First Tier Speed at $39, I was given their Second Tier (Faster) Speed at $39, as part of the promotion. That Second Tier speed is usually $49.

Approaching the fourth month, after the promotion ended, my bill was jacked up to $49 without warning. Time Warner assumed I still wanted the Second Tier speed for the regular $49. This is not what I was told would happen by the company when I signed up. I wanted the bill to remain at $39, even if it meant dropping to the First Tier speed.

So I contacted Time Warner and requested a new bill of $39 for the upcoming month (remember, they charge for the upcoming month, not previous month) and told them I want the First Tier speed. The month passes and I never get a new bill, despite the fact I've been downgraded to the First Tier speed the whole time.

Come month five, they sent a new bill of $39 for the upcoming month, PLUS a late charge of $49 for the previous month, even though I was using the speed worth only $39 that whole time. Blatant overcharge. Did they think I wouldn't notice the drop in service versus cost? I know quite a bit about data rates and usage, and it will take a lot more than that to pull a fast one with me and my bills. After much fervent complaining, I am credited the $10 difference, but not for another month afterwards (I know it's only $10, but as a working student, every bit counts, and it's principal after all).

For shame, Time Warner Cable.
