Titan Industrial Deceptive Sales Techniques Travelers Rest South Carolina
I recently attended an informational session on a business opportunity with Titan Industrial in Bloomington, IL. The session was held out of a hotel room, not uncommon, but was off right from the start.
The individual holding the meeting was a distributor for the company. The basic premise is that they load up a truck full of a "package" of industrial equipment, a generator or two, a power washer, etc... and then go door to door to businesses and homes - mainly farms. They explicitly instructed that with this job you will only be expected and must do only three things, 1. Be willing to travel, 2. Don't say anything other than what we tell you, 3. If the customer has any questions say you don't know the answer and say you can put them on the phone with their engineering department.
What they tell you to say is that your boss is done with this equipment (lie number one, it is all brand new and they just start it once in the factory to make sure it runs), and if he'll buy the generator his boss says he can just have the rest of the equipment for free because he can't ship it because there is flammable material in them (yes, the small amount of gasoline they put in them to make this statement true).
The idea is to make the customer feel like they are getting 90% of the equipment for free because the boss just wants to get rid of it when it reality it is just set-up this way and is completely intentional - there is no boss who just got done with the equipment, they could ship it by truck anywhere they want (it comes this way from the factory) but they can't ship it by mail carrier with the gas in it, and the fact is that they are just cheap drive-through salesman who work an area and then move on.
To work for this company you must be willing to lie and be comfortable taking advantage of those that are less intelligent - although because they don't want people to try to actually "sell" the merchandise they specify they aren't looking for smart salespeople but just those that are willing to drive around and stick to the pitch.
If you are approached by someone selling Titan Industrial Equipment beware. If you are thinking about working for them, don't, unless you are a deceitful person whom enjoys reading ripoff reports and laughing at the plights of others, in which case I can't convince you otherwise.

Company from the same town as Titan, using the same profile, showed up at my business door yesterday. Uhaul pickup full of "new" generators, pressure washer, air compressor. Says company doesn't want to ship it back to S. Carolina, and if you buy one generator, you will get everything in the pickup bed. Same deal as "Titan", was using, except the name was "Apex Equipment", from the same town as Titan. When my son got online and found the Titan story, we declined the Apex offer. I can't imagine it is coincidence that these two company names are from the same location, using the same methods.
