Explanation of complaint:

A few days ago, I was looking over my online credit card statement from my credit union. I use this card for both my personal and business use, so there are dozens, sometimes hundreds of transactions on it. I happened to noticed a charge on it for $11.99 that I didn't recognize. It was shown as

TLG*EVRYDAY56528470MAR 866-363-8258 CT

I called my Credit Union to find out what it was, and it turned out that this company had been charging my credit card $11.99 every month for more than two years! I had not noticed the charge, as it's description seemed as though my wife had purchased something, and of course, I had not signed up for any services from this company. I was advised by my bank to cancel the card and file a fraud complaint, which I did.

I called the company to find out what it was exactly I was being charged for, and they claimed that I had "clicked on something" when finalizing a purchase at buy.com that obligated me to this mothly charge. I asked what services that they provided and asked why I hadn't been notified of these sneaky charges, and they told me that they were not obligated to send me any confirmation of my "order," which of course I never received. They did, however, say that they received their "order" from buy.com. What they actually do (tlg everyday) is still a mystery to me. They offered to pay back a portion of the charge, but said I had to request it in writing from their "main office."

After some more investigation (google keyword tlgeveryday) I immediately found that this organization is famous for ripping people off for this same amount $11.99 and in the same manner.

I did not sign up for any of their services, and I challenge anyone in their organization to prove it. Further, I believe that their bogus charges are illegal, and frankly, a ripoff scheme designed to charge persons for services they never asked for.

I know I should have checked my statement earlier and noticed these charges, but I should not have had to - persons should have to agree to charges before they are made, not scrutinize vague refrences on credit card statements after the fact.

I have filed an official complaint with both VISA, and the Washington State District Attorney's office - I am doing whatever it takes to see that this company (TLG*EVRYDAY) will be investigated with respect to these bogus charges posted to my credit card account, as I believe strongly that they are illegal and fraudulent. I would like for them to return the 300+ dollars that they have taken from me ($11.99 / month over more than two years) I believe that if they continue to do this, many more people will simply overlook this charge, and become victims of this fraud as I have.

Their Telephone number is 866-363-8258, and they operate under the name Trilegiant, I believe.
