Back in February I joined a program that offered great deals on hotels, etc called Great Fun. Some how when you register for this you automatcially get registered for TLG Travel Advantage. I didn't find out about this until a few weeks went by and I recieved a letter from both places talking about my membership and how each will charge 119.99 after the 3 month trial period. That day I spent most of the afternoon on the phone cancelling both memberships.

The Great Fun membership was easy to cancel, TLG Travel Advantage was a completely different thing. First I kept getting kicked around from person to person. Then I was told that I never had a memebership with them and that the membership number I provided them with was for Great Fun, I would call Great Fun back to cancel the membership and they would direct me to back to TLG. By the end of the afternoon I was finally put in contact with someone who actually did cancel it.

Sadly I did some spring cleaning a few weeks later and tossed out those confirmation numbers. Well wouldn't you know it that after all these weeks it has shown up on my bank statement. As a student I am low on money as it is and the last thing I need was for TLG to debit 119.99 from my account. Before actually posting to the account (while it was still in the processing phase) I called the bank and they stated they would look into it.

My bank use returns the funds of the items that were unauthorized on the spot until their investigation was over, but it seems that they have changed policy and no longer offer that nice service. Because of TLG, my bank had to cover about 7 items each of under 30 dollars resulting in fees that are now 318.00. Sadly I still have like 3 or 4 more things floating so by the end of this process I will be in the hole about 500 dollars. TLG claims I never cancelled the day I did, but that they would be willing to refund me the money which supposedly I will recieve in 10 business days. I say supposedly because many people have filed complaints against them not only on this site but on the consumer affairs site.

My bank claims that upon completion of their investigation or possibly my refund that they will be more than happy to refund all my overdraft fees. Till then there isn't much I can do. I am worried that my checks will bounce causing additional fees (bounce check fee with the bank and the fee at the stores). I am worried that because I obviously can't cover the amount right now that they will close my account and send it off to a credit reporting agency messing up my chances of ever having a checking account again. Sadly the bank has not stated what kind of leeway I have until that occurss or when they will be done with their investigation. So far I think I am on day 3 or 4 of the investigation and have not heard back from my bank.

I, too, was a victim of this company. What goes around, comes around! I was contacted by an attorney who is investigating this company and stated they have accumulated so many complaints involving them that they are going to take them to court. Call this companies Billing Department and let them know that you will be sending a copy of bank statement showing overdraft fees resulting from this unauthorized transaction. List the cost of store return fees also. If you call their Customer Service Department, (this is what they told me after numerous phone calls) they will finally tell you that you have to contact the Billing Department for refunds. Good luck. Search around the internet (search criteria - TLG Great Fun complaints)and you should find the name of the Attorney's office that is investigating this company (that's how I found out). They have a category on their website just for the victims of this company to share their complaints.
