Back in February, February 8, 2008 to be exact. I traded in my 2008 Altima Coupe for a Maxima SL. My vehicle was funded by NMAC on the 22nd of the month but NMAC did not recieve the funds for the other vehicle until March 27, 2008. We all know that when trading in a vehicle you get a 10 or 20 payoff. I know that we all can see that it was outside that window. Now I have a credit score of 546 when a month ago I was a 685. This is truely ridiculous, no response from the New Car Manager, the Finance Manager, or the General Manager to date.

My advice. Work with honest people who have your best interest at heart.

First, I deal with credit on a daily basis. Second I know exactly what was reported on my burea and where my score was. My score was a 696 and now it is a 546. I have only 3 inquires on my report to date. One from my home purchased and from my internet service, and my phone service. So I think I know. I pay monthly for the Equifax Three In One, so there you go. Also, when you purchase a vehicle on said date 8th of February and the vehicle is paid for on the 27th of March, that is a problem. First a payoff is for 10 day's or 20 day's, not a month and some. Within the exact time frame a warranty equaling $1900.00 was canceled and the check made out to the said Dealer. The dealer knowingly paid an incorrect balance less the Warranty that I signed over to them and the amount was placed on my credit plus any interest that accrued over the month plus day's it took to payoff my vehicle. I am a victim of Credit Fraud so I watch my credit daily, not monthly daily. Also most people buy cars once every 3 years. I am a SalesWoman in the car business, I do this everyday. I am sure that I know when business was done incorrectly. Also inquires only take a hit on your credit, when you are constantly out trying to acquire new Credit. By the way, the vehicle that I trade was a 2008 Altima Coupe financed thru NMAC, and my current vehicle and loan are thru NMAC, so there goes your inquiry theory.

"My vehicle was funded by NMAC on the 22nd of the month but NMAC did not recieve the funds for the other vehicle until March 27, 2008" No company is going to pay off another loan until the second loan is funded. Until the vehicle is paid off it is your responsibility to make sure that timely payments are still made. When was your payment on the old vehicle due? Even using the date of the 8th(even though it wasn't funded for 2 weeks later) and your statement that it can be a 20 day payoff. If your regular payment was due anytime before the end of Feb you should continue the payments. If it was actually paid off in this time you would have gotten the overpaid amount back. Now, if your next payment was not due until March then it being paid off on the 27th would not effect your credit at all. Because the first negative mark is 30 Days late. As for your credit report. If it even shows up on your credit report, at worst you would have 1 30-Day late payment because of the "late" payoff. If you have average credit that not going to take away anything close to 150 points. However, what takes away points is the new loan and the inquiry. This is easily recoverable in a few months with timely payments. The other thing to think about is where did you get these scores. If you did not get these scores from the same source, then the difference could be in the way the score was calculated. It is not uncommon for different scoring systems to have a very wide range. It appears that both of these are with NMCC. If it does show up as a late you should be able to talk to them to have them remove it.
