Your address was easy to get, especially if you have it listed anywhere (phone, county records, etc.). And these scammers pick the largest bank in your area and use the routing number of that bank to try and convince you they know your account number, but they don't. The routing number simply identifies the bank, it does not identify an individual account, and that is why they asked for your account number. Good for you for keeping the person calling on the line and asking questions - the more time you take the less time they will have to scam another person. And the old rule that people fail to follow everyday is, NEVER, never give out your bank account or credit card number to anyone on the phone or internet UNLESS you call them and even them be careful.
