I signed up for Privacy Guard through Citizens Bank, and was involuntary signed up for Travelers Advantage as well. Privacy Guard was $12.99 a month, which I agreed to, but was also charged an additional $11.99 a month for Travelers Advantage. When I called Travelers Advantage asking them to correct the error, they told me that because they had sent me gasoline vouchers they could not refund my money. I never received any vouchers! After much debate, a supervisor said he would refund my money. If you signed up for Privacy Guard, check your statements to be sure you are not being charged for Travelers Advantage as well.

Signing Up For Services - Travelers Advantage/Trilegiant

#2UPDATE Employee

Mon, June 29, 2009

I am a current employee for Trilegiant. Now, I will try to break down the call flow for when someone is transferred to us. When a person is activating their credit card/applying for a new one they are told that they can receive their credit score/credit report for 1 dollar. So the caller says, "yea, sure why not?" and so they are transferred to us (Trilegiant, who handles Privacy Guard, identity theft protection, shoppers advantage, great fun, haband, travelers advantage and many other companies). We then go into our SCRIPTS,all calls are recorded, and we try to sign them up for value added membership services. The billing is clearly stated that we are offering a Trial Membership for 30 days for only 1 dollar. Then if they decide to continue, it will either be a monthly fee of 15.99 (travelers/shoppers advantage) or 12.99 (privacy guard, identity protection) or what ever the fee may be. They are told they can cancel anytime during the trial and only if they keep it after the trial, they would be billed the membership fee. They can cancel anytime for any reason. They will not owe anything more. So then they complete the order for the initial service, Privacy Guard in your case, there is an upsale (second service). They are introduced to the new service by saying that since they tried Privacy Guard we are going to let them try out Travelers Advantage for free for one month. - Now at this point in the call, roughly 6 mins, the caller is not really paying attention, and we know this, so we go into our spiel and have them sign up for the second service, Travelers Advantage. They are told they can try it out for 1 month for free to see if they like it. If not they can cancel during the trial and they will owe nothing more. The monthly fee would be 15.99 and they can cancel anytime after the trial and owe nothing more. Throughout the call, we repeat each number two different times in the script. The pace in which the rep might be speaking at might confuse you, tell them to slow down. At the end we say the names of both companies' names and also we ask "Are the terms of both services clear?" and we MUST get an affirmative YES. SO. We are not a scam. I have been here for two years now. I have sold bed ridden 90 year old people travel services. I am not proud of this but this is my job. You should pay more attention to people on the phone. It is your own fault.
