My story begins in November 2001 when after installing AOL 7.0 on my fathers computer, I had a problem and called AOL Customer Support. After helping me correct my problem the Customer Support Personnel ask me to please hold. The next thing I know, I'm on the phone with a woman that doesn't speak very good english and she is trying to sell me some sort of credit service. After 15 minutes of telling her I wasn't interested I finally hung up and didn't give it any thought again. Then in January of 2001, I was online and was looking at my checking account and noticed a charge for $79.99 and it was listed as AOL Credit Service and gave an 888 number. I called the number and got a recording that the office was presently closed. I went back online and went to AOL Customer Support and ask the online personnel why I was charged $79.99. After researching my AOL account I was told that it wasn't AOL that billed my account but rather it was AOL Credit Service. Later that morning I called the Tri Alligent (TLG) office at 1-888-289-6318 and ask why I was billed $79.99. They told me it was because I had signed up for a credit service. I asked when I did this and they explained that it was back in November of 2001. I asked how they got the information for my checking account and they said from my AOL account. I spoke with a woman named Connie at TLG and explained to her I wanted this money credited back to my account right away. She even gave me a cancellation number and told me it would be 7-10 days before my account would be credited. I waited and then on January 28, 2002 I called back and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke with a woman named Joann and I asked why my account hadn't been credited. I was told that the former woman had not even submitted the information for the credit and that it would be another fifteen days before I received my money. I asked why this couldn't be expedited and Joann told me that it doesn't happen that way. You don't just get your credit. Later that day I went to the Better Business Bureau web site and inorder to file a report you enter the phone number for the company you are filing against. Would you believe that the company listed for Tri-Allgent (TLG) phone number was America On-Line with a Virginia Beach, VA. address and phone number. I called the phone number listed and as if this wasn't confusing enough as it is, the company I reached was called Trappers Advantage who is affiliated with AOL but NOT AOL. This is the way these companies do business anymore. They make it impossible to talk to somebody to try and take care of a problem. You are sent in circles trying to get your problem solved. And as of this date, I still havn't received my money back.
