Complaint Review: True Media - Internet

I worked with Jay Lee Designs many times. I never had an issue. Jason, at times can be slow with communication, but he has always come through. He's a father and has a full time job. His prices are amazing, and his artwork is way better than we are paying for.

Jason has helped me with code, art, ideas, etc etc... he goes beyond the call of duty.

as i wasn't aware that jason had made most of the art,because of his lack of communication.i am now aware of that fact,i have never to this day received an email with art that i have payed for,so ive asked him for all the art he posses and he hasn't sent a single item,so not only have i not had a refund, i have no artwork as well.
the only reason he's come out with these lies is to try and save his job,which i've informed Kent State University of what type of a person they have working for them.
and how he conducts business..

jason is now trying to repair his name after ripping me off,i asked jason to work on my project we agreed for the hole game of $300,i asked for a sample up font to see what his work was like he sent those 2 images within 45 mins of us speaking i also spent time explaining and showing him with videos and images what the graphics need to look like, ,i said i liked the firs image but not the second image, but im happy with your art so ill pay half up  front,three or four weeks had past with no communication at all,if thats how you deal in your business im surprised you have any customers,so as no more images had been made(unless you do have more jason,no i thought not) at this point only 45min max 60 mins had been spent on this job i asked for my money back,we agreed on $100 so he gets to keep $50, and said he didn't have any money could i wait till the 30th,i said no problem everything was fine .come the 30th nothing no money ,so i emailed him and he replied with sorry i'll pay you now,well i payed with paypal,so there was no way he could send the money to the wrong paypal account unless he had no intension of paying me in the first place, thats when all the contact stopped,i emailed him on countless occasions asking to cancel payment and send to correct address nothing for about a month,because id hassled him so much he said im sick of all the emails i'll pay you tomorrow,well tomorrow came and the money didn't,im angry and upset that ive been scammed by this person,so who wouldn't send a ton of emails asking where my money is.

AND IF YOU SPENT 6 - 10 HOURS ON MY GRAPHICS WHY IS THERE ONLY 2 IMAGES,our price was $300 for the hole game,so how do 2 images equate to $150,im sorry your corrupt,you saw a quick buck and took it,i plead with anyone that reads this,there is only one way to stop scammers,and thats to never hire them in the first place.stay away from jason lee nester,

My name is Jason Nester and I am a full time designer as well as a part time indy game designer.

Paul contacted me the week my son had been born asking me to work on a project for him.

I agreed and also agreed to a lower cost on the entire project as I was feeling good and wanted to do something nice. My one condition was that I be paid an upfront cost of $150 to ensure I wasn't going to be ripped off etc.

I spent the next few days working on his project creating backgrounds and vehicles as well as the actual logo/branding for his game.

I also put together an actual game project with an animated intro etc.

I brainstormed with him came up with a name for the game with him and that was that. I continued working on some different designs for the game. All the while he was sending me 3d rendered versions of the ships and talking about using another game engine I was not skilled in. I asked him "why he even needed me" and he assured that he did.

A wee or so went by and I heard nothing from Paul until I received an email claiming that he was going to use a different game engine and no longer needed my services. And asked if I would kindly refund the initial payment in full.

Keep in mind I had already put in at least 6-10 hours into the project. My usual hourly rate is $35 dollars, and even at a discounted rate of $20 dollars an hour it would still bump the total hourly rate to well over 200. I have worked in corporate america for a while now, and know that just because you change your mind and decide that you dont want something middway through you still need to pay your dues.

I even out of the kindness of my heart an to avoid conflict decided halfway through that I would send him $100. And after a week of saying he hadn't received the payment I canceled the transaction. HE then told me to use a different email address but at that point I didn't have the cash at hand. So I in no way could pay him even as a peace offering. Even though I was within my rights to not do so.

Over the last 2 months I have been dealing with alot of personal issues that kept me away from design work and the gaming industry as well as my email. I only had bits of time in the wee hours of night to even attempt to work on anything. So I focused on my family and my full time job. All the while because I receive so many requests my inbox had become quite a cluttered mess. When things started to taper down within the last week or so I decided to try andget organized and I see 20-40 harassing emails a day, as well as threats from this guy.

He is currently trying to send me personal tidbits of information about myself through my email as well as trying to find out where I live.

I had planned on paying him yesterday or today when my itunes money came through and it has but with his behavior and the way he has handled this situation the odds of him getting any sort of refund have went from slim to none. I refuse to do business with a person who reacts like a toddler instead of the adult that I assume that he is.

Which brings me to my next point: There was never a contract of any kind. This wall all done in a very under the table sort of fashion.

And the bottom line is this: I am within my rights to not pay him back money that went in to the initial development of his game. I put the time in regardless of whether or not he changed his plans. I understand that he is frustrated but that is reality.

I would have and fully intended on working something out with him to ease his frustration but he has slandered my name all over the internet and threatened me. In no way is he going to get paid.

gamedivisionuk is his alias and from what i have seen of him within my game platform community he is a troublemaker. I have plenty of happy clients from over the years and even offer my services for free from time to time to younger and under-experienced developers. I have had very few complaints actually just one, and it is this guy.
