I had several email communications  with Classic Rover and a fellow by the name of Anthony before making my final decision to purchase a white 1999 Isuzu Tropper with a represented 73,400 miles on it.. VIN# JACDJ58X6X7904027. I made repeated inquiries into whether the a/c worked properly, blew cold and if there were any oil leaks whatsoever or burned oil. I made it clear it had to work properly because I would be hauling kids back and forth to school. The dealer made several repeated written representations via email that the a/c did work properly ; the a/c did blow cold; and the engine did not have any oil leaks whatsover and di not burn oil. I elected to purchase the car based on these representaitons. Anthony even sent me a vidoe where he turns on the a/c and says "yep blows cold". I received the vehicle within 30 days of the dealers email written representations & the walk around video . Upon delivery immediately after transporter unloaded the Trooper, I discovered that the a/c compressor was shot and was not blowing cold at all. There was also the smell of burning oil. The hood latch was borken and we couldn't open the hood.  O

n 7-18-18 I took it to Haigler Auto Repair here in Montgomery Al that has been in business for over 50 years. I was advised  the a/c compressor must be replaced and that there was a significant oil leak around both valve cover gaskets. I had to replace the a/c complressor, the dryer and the valve cover gaskets.  The verticle metal flat bar controlling the hood latch was missing so we had to  frbricate one so I could open and close the hood. Cost was $1,526.37. I emailed and called the Dealer and to this date the dealer refuses to answer emails and telephone calls. Then I had to take it back on 8-2-18 to discover there was a spare brake pad loose in the passnger side rear wheel drum that would make a clanking noise every time I hit a slight bump. When we inspected the same , both rear rothers and sets of pads had about 10% left. Another $382.02  spent. So Purchased the vehicle shipping included for $5,000 then ahd to drop another 1882 in it just to make it road worthy and safe enough to put kids in.  I would call me experience a old fashoned "Got Screwed " by the dealer. This is a "CLASSIC" example of why many people don't trust the average Car Dealer.

I understand the "Buyer Beware' caveat when you are buying a used vehicle . However,  when the dealer and salesman makes specific written representations that are absolutely  false and they are made to induce you to purchase; I do not think he can hide behind the "Buyer Beware used car language" Based on teh buyer beware caveat I sent an email to the dealer only asking for 50% percent reimbursement of the initial 1526.37. Nothing but silence. No response.

The dealer may coome back with some response. However, keep in mind that I have a file foler about 3 inches thick with all the email communications that prove all of the above.  I slao saved the you tube video walk around he prepared and sent to me.

My next stop will possibly be the N.J. Attorney General to file a consumer fraud complaint.

Rebuttal to Common Sense

I've purchased several cars through ebay throughout the years dating back to 2002. Purchased and the like. This dealer posted 100 pictures of the Trooper at question on this post. The dealer made several written representations as stated in my post. I've never been flat out lied to by a dealer that does regular business through Car Gurus or ebay. It was on ebay where I first saw the this Trooper.

Trooper runs fine now. Just need the a/c complressor and ryer, brkaes and valve cover gsakets. I certainly have less in the Tropper thatn teh cost of a Artic Cat 4 wheeler or a Golf Cart for the comparison.

At end of the day, if a dealer is going to lie like this one, other dealers and those that have been hood winked should work towards closing them down.

Lastly, I thought the rebuttal section was for the Dealer not 3rd parties. But feel free to carry on. And to some what agree with your persuaion,  because of this isolated situation, I probably will not do anymore long distance shopping.

A Fine Example Of Using COMMON SENSE!

What exactly is wrong with you people??? Given the FACT of all the problems of buying a used car, why in the name of time would you even for one second consider buying a USED car sight unseen??? It's not as if you are living in some third world country where there's no car dealers within 5000 miles! You freely send off your money to somebody you don't know to buy some dumb used car you've never seen nor checked out or test driven. When a piece of junk shows up, it's crying time again and of course, it's all their fault! There are hundreds of shysters out there who know full well some sucker will come along to swallow hook, line and sinker whatever they are told because they just need to have THAT car! Common sense goes out the window and getting their money is like taking candy from a baby. The usual excuse these people use is "I trusted them. There's nothing wrong with trust!" No, using COMMON SENSE comes FIRST. Yes sir, P.T. Barnum would love you!
