This magazine asks for help from writers, graphic artists and bloggers and does not pay them for their services even when invoice are sent. The editor is recently targeting students and models to help promote their brand and basically using them for free help to promote the magazine that is not even LLC accredited. The magazine is gearing up for a tour where the proceeds from each ticket sale will be given straight to the editor to pay for her personal expenses and bills. People on staff are not properly reimbursed for their time, efforts and connections they make for the benefit of the magazine and editor . If money is paid it takes an ungodly amount of time to process and may not cover the full service charge. For example, I wrote and sent two stories to be published in the magazine. The editor claimed she would pay $100 a story . After sending my work, BEFORE the deadline, I had to call once a week for almost a month to ask for payment. I was paid $80 for the two stories I sent. I still have not gotten the amount I was promised . The editor asks for "brand ambassadors" to get their connections with companies and does not follow up after the initial relationship is established with this brand ambassador. I also made a flyer for an upcoming event the magazine was having. My image was used before I was paid without my consent and I did not get paid for the work until almost a week after even though I specifically said that payment must be due on receipt. She ended up using another flyer from a graphic design firm to draw attention away from the fact that the first flyer was reported as intellectual theft on Facebook. The editor preys on women and students that she knows need extra income to rope them in and use them and then has excuses for why payment cannot be made.

There was also intent that our company is not a credited LLC. Unfortunatley for Mrs. Girley, we have documentation to prove.

We would also like to thank Moriah for giving us the proof we need to show the malice intent to (attempt) to ruin the reputaion of a growing/successful company, that no longer wishes to work with her.

To clear up any further allegations about us, please see below:

Moriah Girley was brought on with TXture Magazine original as a fashion writer. She presented 2 stories, which one of those stories were incomplete & we both agreed to only using 1 story. As a small business, we pay from a bank account to keep paper work in order (as any business). I went against that and personaly paid her for her story in cash. We have monthly budgets to adhere to and were scheduled to make payments based of the due date of the deadline. Ms. Girely finshed her's and submitted early and that is what delayed her payment.

Moriah was paid in full $100 for her story, unfortunatley in cash so its my word againast hers. However, Moriah continued to work with TXTURE even with the claim of us STILL owing her $20.

Ms. Girley has recently lost 2 great jobs due to her hot temper & bad attitude. She is precieved as an oppurtunist and is only interested in personal gain. I only tried to help her as she is a young mother. Txture Magazine is a platform to empower & inspire. We have too many testimonies on our impact in many communities to even take this slander seriously!

Her complaint is more of a childish cry for attention than a legal matter.

On May 1st, Girley was paid $50 for helping curate stock imagery for issue 3, including finishing up images for her "Haute Looks for less" fashion write up.Ripoffreport Report Image

As for the flyer,  I called Moriah on Jun. 2nd asking for a recomendation for a graphics designer. We were in the process of interviewing a designer & the other was busy on our layout. Moriah said she can do it and sent a few examples of previous work. I was not too fond of them so I sent her 4 examples of what I like, in the hopes that she would put an example together for me, as most designers do. Moriah had NOT asked when I needed this flyer, she had NOT discussed her prices & no actually consultation. She was presumptous and sent me an invocie of $75 with out showing me the actual work? The invoice said "once paid, I can make changes". Pretty much spending my money for me, without me agreeing to her prices.

Fine, I paid the invoice anyway! It came as an echeck with is why she said it was  "uncleared" which is a standard at paypal. Moriah was furious and sent me multiple angy txt in refrence to the 3-5day payment. I showed her the money was taken out of my account, and she over reacted as if I had just paid it on the 4th and not the 2nd.

It is only out of bitter anger that she made this complaint, due to the fact that we decided to pay for another designers professional services and not the tantrums of a hot headed young girl. It was never reported as theft? She has us on her page til this day promoting her business.  Our new flyer is also more professional looking, as Moriah is not as experienced. So taking a $75 loss to not deal with negativity is priceless.

The invoice was since paid last week to be exact (see below), and she chose to falsey file this complaint as if she was not paid. Moriah is very upset that we no longer need her services, which also means we will NOT be publishing her story in our new issue. We debuted the cover yesterday at 7am, and at 9am you get this complaint... Coincidence? I dont think so!

Yes, we do have interns & ambassadors. As many companies do. We are a vastly growing small business. We have received TV apperences, awards (Black Women in Publication awards this past weekend), and 4 major distrubution deals. So help is needed as well as capital to keep the business running. So having positive influencers at all times is a necessity. Also, brand visibilty for marketing. We are sorry Mrs. Girley is so bitter, but we have the integrity & support of Thousands and will not be threathen by such a mockery.

It was recently brought to our attention that Mrs. Girley was recently arrested, and this may be the result of her reactions! Including her desperate attempts to collect $75 that was already initiated on  the same day, and how she offered her services after I asked for a recommendation even tho she was not qualified for the job.

We hope that Moriah Girley is able to put her time & energy in bettering herself, and not so much energy into slandering other businesses.
