My husband wanted to order me a pair of ugg boots for Christmas, but he hates to pay full price for anything. He found this website which looks very trustworthy. It has veri-sign, paypal, etc. and the discounts were resonable.

He ordered a pair of uggs for $125.99 and payed through Paypal.com on 12/12/2008. Christmas came and went, and the boots still weren't here! I made contact with the seller via their website, and they claimed that they had no record of the transaction. This prompted me to file a complaint with paypal.

I received a response from the company less than 12 hours later, saying they had sent my package. They provided a tracking number.

When I went to the post office to pick up the package, the first thing that struck me was the odd appearance. The box was in a plastic black bag, and then the entire box was mummified in packing tape. How strange!? I asked why it looked so weird, and the postman informed me that the package was from Shaghi, China. That was the first major red flag for me.

I got home and opened the box immediately, because the curiosity was killing me. The aroma struck me straight in the nose as soon as I opened the box. The best way to describe it is that it smelled like chemicals. Plastic, glue, something else. It really is indescribable.

I compared the boots to the authentic uggs I had bought from Nordstrom about a year earlier. While they were really good knock offs (good enough to fool some people I am sure), they were obviously fake. The biggest thing I could see is that the wool on the inside isn't wool, its sythetic hair that looks very shiny and plastic. However, all the tags are in the proper places, the soles are exact matches, and the suede is pretty good too.

I got on the internet, and looked up ways to tell fake uggs. Of course, both of these plus the fact that they are from China are telling signs that are listed.

I have called paypal to inform them of the situation, but since this wasn't an ebay transaction, they cannot get my money back for me. (lesson learned!) They told me the company was under investigation though, so there is a possibility that I may get my money back in the future.

I contacted the company, and they claim their product is authentic, and offer me to ship them back. They claim that when they receive them, they will refund me. I don't trust them!

The little miss
