As of 24 Jan 2005 house is not completed and United-Bilt Homes has not even bothered to contact me as to what they intend to do to complete this house.

Problem: Builders were working of three different blueprints that we had not approved nor signed.

1. Notified UBH that plumbing was wrong before slab was poured, but was ignored, slab was poured without correcting plumbing problems.

2. Walls were erected with four doors in wrong place. One wall was completely missing.

3. Master bathroom window not installed, yet it was leaning against wall in living room.

4. Sheeting on roof for six weeks before felt paper was installed, with numerous rains.

5. Fireplace chimney leaned out at top about 4 inches.

6. Roof was not square near chimney.

7. Food pantry was built half size.

8. Water for icemaker in refrigerator was run to cook stove.

9. Shower in master bath was installed in wrong place. Shower was cracked when moved. Shower was repaired rather than being replaced as requested. Jet tub in master bath was wrong size and in wrong location. Slab had to be cut and broke out to correct plumbing problems.

10. Roof leaks in several places. Windows were not caulked. Three half hearted attempts at roof repairs. Roof still leaks.

11. Outside door to utility room leaks when it rains.

12. Wall behind water heater is about half repaired, no trim installed around shut off valve.

13. Faucet on back of house still leaks after three attempts at repairing it.

14 Siding on front of house above triple windows crushed during installation. Was caulked as a repair.

15. Door facings inside house cut about half inch to short.

16. Heater door in hallway looks like it was cut with chainsaw.

17. Outside unit for air conditioner is installed about 8 inches to low. Have told construction foreman and District Construction manager at least three times, with no results.

18. The local community now refer to this house as the remodeled slab. I do agree with them. Very shoddy workmanship, very poor co-ordination between contractor, and home owner. Main office seems totally unconcerned.

19. The construction foreman and the regional or district construction manager will promise the consumer anything that the consumer or customer wants to hear, yet they have no intention of following through with their promises.

20. The salesman for this house made numerous promises which he never followed through on and each and everyone I have contacted within this company will do the exact same thing.

21. I have called other offices and told them I was contemplating building a new home and you would not believe the lies they have told me. I ask the district construction manager about this policy and he denied any thing like this could happen. Call one your self and ask what happens if the house is not completed within the 90 to 120 days as on their web site, under F.A.Q. ask if you can get the payment deferred for two months. Then use your own judgment before using United-Bilt Homes. I would never recommend United-Bilt Homes to anyone.

Have to call UBH main office to get local office to respond to complaints. Then they make unfulfilled promises, and have no intention of following through on promises.

First of all they do not promise a completion date due to the simple fact that they can not cotrol the weather. I had a house built with United Bilt Homes 13 years ago and have not had any problems with it. Even with rain they were finished with the home in 135 days not bad for a 2 story 2800 sq ft house. I have been very happy with them and will recommend them to everybody that wants a great value home.

In response to the woman with bad comments about United-Bilt Homes out of Fayetteville, Arkansas, we have recently had one built by the Fayetteville, Arkansas, office and it is WONDERFUL! The foundation (crawl-space) is super and the framing/inside is excellent. Their crews have done a great job for us and done within 4 months. They give themselves six (not three) months to complete a home. If we asked any of the men to do something extra for us, they did it. We are very pleased with our UBH out of the Fayetteville, Arkansas, office. I would recommend them to anyone. They allowed us to flip the plan, substitute, etc. And we are done! Mary Jane

I am currently an employee of United-Bilt Homes, but was a customer long before. I have a United-Bilt Home, built in 2003, and many of my family members and friends have United-Bilt Homes. I know that this company has been in business for almost 50 years, and if you google the company, you will find several positive items on this company, and very few derogatory items. This is a great company, not only to work for, but to be a customer of. Myself, and all other UBH customers I know, are very happy with the quality of our homes. Furthermore, EVERY home that is Built by UBH is backed with an outstanding warranty, and everything that you are getting with your new home is included in the contract that is signed and notarized when you close your loan. We have an outstanding finance program, and very competitive pricing. The fact is, that you can not make everyone happy all the time, and it is unfortunate that this is one of those times. However, being in business for over 50 years, speaks for itself. Also, United Bilt Homes are not manufactured homes. They are stick built homes on foundation, with unlimited custom option including brick and any other option you get with a stick built home.

United-Bilt Homes is the absolute worst

Jan 24, 2006 UPDATE to RIPOFFREPORT.COM 28 Dec 2005. I called United-Bilt Homes of Fayetteville, Arkansas to request a repair of frost free faucet on the back of my house, that had frozen and burst. I was promised that the faucet would be repaired within 5 days. 14 Jan 2006. I again called United-Bilt Homes to request repairs to frost free faucet. Once again I was promised that it would be taken care of within 5 days. 18 Jan 2006. I again called United-Bilt Homes to check on the plumber, as I had not heard from them. Allen , the regional supervisor told me that it would be taken care of within 5 days. He stated that it was hard to get a plumber because of all the building going on in the area. 24 Jan 2006. I again called United-Bilt Homes to check on the plumber. Robert, a salesman with United-Bilt homes promised that Allen would call me back in about half an hour. After not hearing from United-Bilt Homes within 2 hours I elected to file an update to my original RIPOFF REPORT. United-Bilt Homes of Fayetteville Ar are continuing to live up to my low expectations of their company. I have been lied to, mislead, ignored, and promised anything I wanted to hear. United-Bilt Homes, Fayetteville Ar has yet to impress me with their honesty, integrity, customer service, or obligation to their customers. I honestly believe that United-Bilt Homes is the absolute worst choice I could have made in the construction of my new home.

15 months after signing contract, house is still not finished, but we have more usless promises

#12Author of original report

Mon, July 04, 2005

about 15 June 05, Jim Tucker was contacted about completing my house. He came to the house and promised everything would be completed. This was another misleading promise, and I hate to call it an outright lie, yet nothing has been done and, Jim Tucker has now seperated from United Bilt Homes. I recieved a letter from the president of United Bilt Homes stating their work was completed, and I should be enjoying the benifits of home ownership. He also stated that if they could be of further assistance just give him a call at 1-888-756-2522. I called three time and never did recieve a call or anything else from the president of United Bilt Homes. It appears to me that Don Pitts, President of United Bilt homes is just as incompetent and as uncareing as his employees. His letter appears to be just a bad joke. I fully intend to update this file at least every six months just to keep it active. Suggest every one with a complaint against United Bilt homes do the same. There is approximately 1.5 to 2 million people review rip off report on a daily basis. If just a few of these people elect to select a home builder that is trustworthy and honest in their dealings with the consumer, United Bilt Homes may get the message, DO NOT LIE TO THE CUSTOMER. FOLLOW THROUGH WITH ALL PROMISES.
