I spent the entire day waiting for UPS to deliver something my Father gave me when I was 12, back in 1980. Lo and behold, I did a recheck of the UPS tracking and the sneaky driver wrote

LANDOVER,

MD,
US
12/02/20107:27 P.M.THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE 1ST ATTEMPT. A 2ND ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE

While I was home! Now, the standard protocol is for the driver to place a delivery tag on the door as an attempt to deliver. Again, I immediately checked for this delivery attempt tag and NO TAG!! I guess this is indicative of what I term as lazy a** American worker(s). My dad paid money for a service, But UPS doesn't deliver(literally)!

Anyway, bad enough that I spent a good portion of my day at the Emergency Room and my wife was home all day waiting. Anyhow, Is this UPS at it's best? I guess so, seeing the numerous complaints from people who tried receive packages from the same Landover location. Hmm, The Redskins who play in Landover suck and UPS/Landover sucks... So I guess it stands to chance that ANYTHING that comes out of Landover sucks.

I also commented to the operator at UPS that if that driver had much needed medication to save my life by tomorrow, they wouldn't need to worry about delivering the package because my a*s would be dead thanks to that driver! So, seeing how this is thursday night and the eagles are playing the Texans, I'll again state that the chances are that, the driver decided to rush that he attempted to deliver my package so he could take his sorry 4th point of contact home to sit on his 4th point of contact to watch the game on TV.... again.. THANKS UPS!!!! losers!

I along with my wife both waited together or separately for this driver. @ 4:30am, they had my product, an heirloom listed as out for delivery. But coincidentally at 7:30pm, the tracking system listed the delivery as me NOT being home to deliver.

the bigger issue here is, people like yourselves and I pay their bills. their bread and butter. Again, one of us was always home and near the phone. we have a security door that one only needs to dial a simple 2 digit number on a keypad and it dials my phone in my residence. not difficult. I'll give maybe a little leeway in that things can happen. but when a business such as UPS sole function is to deliver packages from A to B, it's highly unreasonable for folks like myself to blow an entire day waiting for people who, I'd think want their jobs. I'll say again, some may never have had this issue with UPS, that's fine but, my wife found several ripoff reports about the landover US center.

I'm glad to have a job and with the times as bad as they are, even UPS must really step up to the plate and come through. It's not as if they are cooking fast food or something else. Logistics is a daunting task and things like these can make or break a business

anyhow thanks for the replies!

The serious issue has nothing to do with the delivery company.

Let's assume for a moment this complainer is 100% right...the driver just plain blew his job out of pure laziness. Done deal, pathetic employee, end of story...

Where does this complainer get off expecting that immature and irrational rantings prove a point, show any credibility, and command results? If we all talk just like this complainer, will this world then become a happy perfect place? Intelligent people generally feel that an aptitude and attitude, that this complainer enjoys, is where problems begin and are maintained.

So he waited all day for a driver (not really....he wasn't home because of an illness that he feels was important to use to emphasize the drivers laziness.) Does he expect every business and residence should get their pickups and deliveries first thing in the morning? Or maybe the driver should park his truck and wait until after 6:00pm to be sure everyone is home from work before he delivers. It is a bizarre concept, but drivers for all companies, including UPS, FEDEX, USPS, etc., start before most people wake and finish long after most people are relaxing after dinner, often without a lunch break.

Assuming the address for delivery was correct, an info notice may be applied to a door or mailbox for reference. It is a courtesy service only. The drivers have an incentive to leave the notice as there is a signature location right on the slip that may be signed. If the recipient signs it, the driver may leave the package there during the next delivery attempt even if the no one is home. This complainer found no notice and is only capable of imagining vindictive explanations, so he simply damns the delivery person with the fabulous insight that a football game must have been more important than his delivery.

It is difficult to imagine such absurd hate from this complainer about a delivery person whom very possibly did his job just fine. Is it rational to also extend that hate towards one individual delivery person by stating the entire corporation that he/she works for is also worthless? Shouldn't that same logic (logic?) dictate that all delivery companies would have identical situations occur? It's pretty difficult to imagine such vindictive nonsense about a delivery person and believe this complainer has much love for anyone at all. Is he, perhaps, that hateful to his wife when she makes a mistake, real or perceived? Does this complainer hate HIMSELF as much when HE does something someone else doesn't care for?

Just for the sake of argument, would this complainer allow us to use the same wild imagination as he has while we try to describe him? Alright...his words place himself in the category of a lazy football watching bum, with smelly feet and bad gas, that yells life threatenning obscenities at the TV when someone blunders the ball. He barks at his wife to get him another beer. When she isn't fast enough with his chow, he then crabs at her that she's bred from a family of losers. His family tries to put up with him, but avoids him as much as possible because of his bitterness. His physical vices and mental depression (self maintained with feelings of hurt and inadequacy), have raised his blood pressure enough to put him in the hospital.

Of course, that speculation couldn't possibly be true, but is the sort of imagination used by this complainer. It is just as likely this complainer was raised in a loving Christian family, is a steady church goer, and volunteers at the local hospital emergency ward during the holiday season. There will be many tears at his funeral, as people will miss the warm fuzzies that he shared to make this world a better place.

If you have a problem with "lazy American workers" just LEAVE the USA!

First let me say that I am a heavy user of UPS and have never experienced this kind of thing.

So, it's not a UPS thing OR a "lazy American worker" thing. The beauty of our freedoms as AMERICANS in the USA is that anytime you don't like it here, you are FREE TO LEAVE! So, if you think Americans are lazy, I think you should do just that. Leave. I'm so tired of hearing that.

Maybe this driver is just one bad apple in the bunch. Did you ever consider that? maybe the driver was sick that day, or had some other type of problem going on. Maybe a truck problem. Lots of possibilities here.

Now, I have had this problem frequently with the "other" company, and that is why I went 100% to UPS.

It is apparent that you are beyond angry about this and rightfully so if what you believe happened, happened.

I put it that way because it's possible that your father put the wrong delivery address down when arranging to ship this.  I'd be interested in knowing if you confirmed the delivery address when checking it's status.

I am sorry you spent a good portion of your day at the Emergency Room and it's good that you are home, but you did contradict your statement when earlier you stated you waited the entire day for the delivery and then say it was your wife who had been home all day.

I live in a heavily populated area and the latest we have seen UPS is about 6:30pm and he just leaves it on our porch unless a signature is required.  That is a pretty late time for him to key in his pad that he attempted the delivery.

In any case, I hope you get your package tomorrow and that you will be past your anger.
