Universal Taxi Steve, Tanja, Gordan Simic, Rick. Don't ever fall for the Craigslist ad for this company. It's a play, scam, false advertisement, trickery. Internet
Ok. I was looking for a job in Taxi business bc I like to drive. I came accross this ad on Craigslist that said. F/T Taxi Driver NO Exp Make $600 -700 a week clear. Address 1740 W. Armitage ct. Addison, IL. It sounded good for me because I used to do livery with this other company but wanted to make more money. So i went to the address in Addison and as soon as i walked in the office there was a black lady girl who asked me if she can help. I said yeah im here to apply for the fulltime position to be a cab driver.
She let me in and took my MVR and license for copies. I filled the app and right after i got my license and MVR back a guy named Rick walked me to the back rooms for interview. We sat down on this long brown table with a flat screen tv ahead between a whole bunch of office drawers. He asked if i ever drove a taxi, smoked, etc. I said yeah and told him i wasnt making enough money at my other job. He told me no worries here we give a cab to take home, work own hours, pulled a calc and added $260 fares - 50 bucks gas - 78 lease.
Which came out to $132. I said ok it seems great for me taking the cab home. own hours over a 100 a day . so i had to break the interview bc the cops were outside having me move my car. Rick said human resources would call me. I said ok. I recieve a call a day later in the afternoon Universal calls me and tells me im hired and a cab is going to pick me up a 8am. It finally came to that morning i was outside waiting and ready to go the cab was 8 min late but no big deal took me to the office for training.
As soon as i got there a short white napeolian guy named Gordan walked me in the back to the training room . Already was a beirded guy named Steve looked Indian spoke good Eng. was siting at the table a training instructor. So we sat down waited for others , 2 more came one black girl, and one mexican . We started to train the very long 6 hrs common sense, it was hard to stay awake. The hispanic walked out and said he was sick it was just me and liz for training. after all the was done, we were tested and i passed.
Steve then pulled me out fof the room and took me to the Owners office his name was Gordin Simic a sleazy conartist who made me sign a one year lease agreement saying i owe everyday $78 bucks due 6am every following morning.He was speaking so fast that as if he was selling me the d*mn cab. He also said that if i cancel the lease i would owe $5000 to unverisal before 7 days and they would hold my license. after 7 days you can cancel for 7 days owing 78 each day. so i signed hopelessluy falling fo r the 100 bucks a day. No copy of the agreement for me at all .After all that instense office moments of not knowing what im getting my self into.
They shove me in a cab it was a impala said Morton on it not universal was assinged to cicero berwyn area i was like great. To top things off the cab was dead on the read mark of emtpy, thee bumper was dented, slashed marked, headlights didnt work properly, the d**n thing leaked oil etc to much to type. I got in and drove away from addison to my first fare it was only for $10 taking this customer to college. Hard to find at first. radioed dispatch , machine froze and then got yelled at for pressing the button to much times.
after that fare sat for hours waiting for another one didnt get one. So it all came to me that i was ready to return the cab and quit. How am i going to make the $78 lease, gas if im only getting $20 worth of fares. So it was a bunch of crap, i started goolging Universal taxi but not one or two or three and more red flag complaints about the company. At that point i was scared to death and hopeless of return the cab after i signed the 14 day for it. So what i did was take the cab back to the office . put the windows up, turn it off and leave the keys inside. and take all my belongings making sure i left nothing in there. And said to my self im not standing for all this bs.
atleast my other job i was making lease money not paying for my pocket . Walked away and called for a ridehome . called Gordin left him a voice saying your full of sh*t, dont give me enough fares to cover my lease, no money to pay it and dropped the cab off infront. if u dare try to sue me ill higher a lawyer for all the false advertisements, unlawfull of giving copies of lease, mistreat of all employees, and a show for all the complaints about the company. so dare it. IF YOU EVER COME ACCROSS THIS AD FOR THIS COMPANY ITS A HELL HOLE NIGHTMARE! ULL END UP DOING WHAT I DID! DONT FALL FOR GORDIN AND HIS SCAMS. HE JUST WANTS HIS LEASE AND DOESNT GIVE A RATS A** ABOUT YOU!
