Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I was hired by a young lady to do home improvements to her home in Clarksville IN, upon me asking did I need to provide my license for the work involved I was told a license was not required in the state of Indiana. I was already in the area as a mutual friend had approached me about a job in which the insurance company (Assurant) and Us Bank Home Mortgage would pay me to do contract work on a home that had been vandalized. I agreed. I asked how myself as well employees would be compensated as well, and what the process was. The homeowner assured me that I would get at least 25% of the payment when I began, and the other drafts would follow upon inspection. Well when we completed half of the work and no check, we continued working and still nothing, we are now done with the work and nothing. My father and I are working together he is a certified painter and contractor, has been for 40 some odd years, he is my go to guy for all things contracting. When we entered the home we couldn't help but to think this may have been an inside job done by the homeowner. I mean there was damage don't get me wrong but the paint used to splash all over the floor and water based paint is hardly damaging. Yet in still we performed the tasks asked of us including a clean up process not for the faint hearted. There was a severe mold issue in which we had wear face mask and respirators to ensure we didn't inhale any of it.

Long story short we're done and I'm ready to compensate my employee as well as be compensated also. It has been nothing but a headache since the completion of the job. They now stated since my company is based out of Georgia I needed my business license, which I provided, and also an itemized statement with total cost. Now they are telling me they will have to see if they will even accept my license. I have to wonder if this is because of the homeowners lack of trustworthiness, is why they are putting me through all this. Her actions are of no reflection on me. I am now fighting to see a dime after 96 hours of work completed. I also asked if there was a way to have payment mailed directly to me as I would have to pay my employee for work completed and Us bank said there indeed was. They stated that the homeowner could in fact write a letter to have it sent directly to me, when I bout this to the customers attention she was unwilling to do so which lets me know there is something sketchy going on. I think Us bank should handle all things with the contractor, and investigate throughly the customers claim before they ask or allow any contractor to perform work they are unwilling to pay for.
