Gotta disagree here. Now you didn't mention how you made the $5300.00 deposit. Either way, it's possible you got to the ATM or branch past their cut off point. A good way to verify if you've done this is to go online and check the deposit date. If I'm correct, you technically made the deposit the same day as making the debit card purchases. Another snag is the amount of the check. Any deposit over $5000 must be reported to the government. (Not a US Bank rule, this is a federal law.) This usually involves some sort of check clearing period. Thank you, Homeland Security. Another thing I wanted to mention; If you finish a business day with a negative available balance; you'll get a fee (or many fees depending on the account activity.) Whether you put money in the next day or not, the fee will still generate.

The underlined balance indicates a difference between your account balance and the available balance. If the balance shown is not underlined it just means your account and available balance are one in the same. Remember US Bank charges overdraft fees for a negative AVAILABLE balance and it states it clearly in the policies posted on their website. I used to work at a different bank which, unlike US Bank, had more ethical policies.

I have US Bank as well. Seems that I get weekly overdraft charges. I get paid every two weeks. I got paid Friday of a couple of weeks ago and spent a total of $78 over the week. Yesterday I got TWO overdraft charges! What?!?!?! I haven't even spent a PENNY in over a week and a half! Also that whole UNDERLINED thing- what I don't understand is how I can have things that are underlined from over a year ago, when some are in 'regular' font from 3 weeks ago.

Um... Since they agreed that the teller should have noted that the check was missing an endorsement and refunded your two charges I'm not at all sure what your beef is? It looks like they did work with you and did the right thing here. As a side note, US Bank not quite two years ago changed thier handeling of debit card purchases. It used to be that a debit card purchase was not subtracted from your account until it was actually processed. Now, in response to significant customer demand, when the bank gives a merchant an authorization for a debit card purchase they immediately remove the funds from your available balance. Also, US Bank offices here in the metro area no longer change business days at 3:00pm. You can now make your deposits up until 6:00pm at metro offices and ATM Machines. Finally, if you can, I'd sign up for overdraft protection. If it's utilized correctly, it's comparitively (versus overdraft charges)cheap protection agains overdraft fees. Good luck!
