With my US Bank Account, my deposit are processed first... and US Bank still messed up my account as it had a positive balance, though they had anticipated that I would have a negative balance... and charged me $34/check card withdrawl. You can see my long history of BS with US Bank on another report (the one from Apple Valley). I would suggest also contacting the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (more info under my report).

I think most banks have switched to processing deposits before withdrawals, but maybe US Bank is different. Anyhow.. to some other points... The 15 day thing is generally on out of state checks for larger amounts and new customers. If you've been with the bank for 5 years, you don't have a 15 day hold. Of course, if the check bounces, they pull the money back out of your account still, but only new customers generally have to deal with holds. Fingerprint... Standard at all banks now. In addition, most banks you see show that "Drive Thru is for xxx Account Holders Only". That means they don't cash their own checks through the drive thru. Because they can't get your fingerprint. Check forging is a big, and relatively easy business now. The fact that it is a payroll check means nothing. In fact, a payroll check has a higher probability of forging because there will almost always be funds there to back it up.

Maybe its just here but the bank I bank at only takes about 24 hours at the most unless its deposited on a saturday or after a certain hour or if there is a problem with a check. I have never heard of a 15 day clearance on a check when you deposit it at a bank. Course if you are like me ou just have your checks direct deposite and they are available on payday. This comes in ahndy quite a bit. 15 days sounds like a long time to to wait for MY money. I dont thik I would do business with such bank.

Hi Jodi - I do agree it is wrong to have a payroll check be held. When I lived in Minnesota I would go to US Bank to cash my check DRAWN on their bank, and they wouldn't let me do it unless I got there before the lobby closed (fat chance!) and gave my thumbprint, because I wasn't their customer. I hate US Bank with a passion. That aside, lolol, is there any way your husband could get Direct Deposit on his paycheck? The funds ARE immediately available on the day the employer specifies and there is no holding back of funds, as with a check. Hope this idea helps, I'm sorry if it doesn't. For smaller employers, the direct deposit thing may not be worth pursuing. Good Luck. and change banks :) Have seen a lot of postings endorsing credit unions and sometimes the only eligibility requirement is living in a certain area or something easy like that.

doesn't mean it will clear immediately. Dont you read those signs as you walk into yoru bank? Theo ones aht say "funds that are deposited today may not be avaialable to you for up to 15 days after deposit?" this goes FOR ALL checks deposited, whether personal, cashiers or a payroll check The "balance" you see is there for your benefit, but know that its not "immediately" avaialble. Always account for at least 3 business days before writing anythign against the account.
