Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Banks are bold face stealing from people and getting away with it, there is nothing we can do about it?

The thing that infuriates me is that I can buy something with my debit card, the money is taken off my available balance immediately leaving me negative say $4 or something like that, so I should get charged for overdrawing once, I understand that, but then all these "pending transactions" hit. The money was taken out of my account days ago, the balance only went negative because of one transaction, but then when transactions "post" I get hit with the fees for the 5 things I paid for 4 days ago!

I've deposited money the same day well before the end of business, lets say around lunch time,, it was cash so the deposit posted on the same day, so I was positive again, but I am not kidding in that same day gone negative again because even though I put in money, their fees were assessed (for things this morning being negative) and brought me negative again, without the fees the money I had deposited would have covered my mistake. I figured everything was fine again, but to my dismay I was $129 overdrawn the other day, even though I deposited money well over what the little overdraft was. This should be illegal. Its a no win situation for us and the bank has a million loopholes to steal money from people who are honestly making an effort to keep their bank account straight. I mean, if you RUSH to the bank to deposit cash the same day you should not be charged fees. If you ignore it and don't do anything about it then yeah, I could see them penalizing you. This is so wrong in so many ways, and there is NOTHING you can do about it. Too bad, your paycheck just got cut by hundreds of dollars and there is not a d**n thing you can do about it. I have had a $40 mistake cost me over $400 in fees.

My belief, the fees should not exceed or at the very least be multiple times the offense. If I overdraw $20 and a bunch of transactions that I made 6 days ago 'post' I should not be charged $35 for each one even though only ONE of them made me go negative. I can understand when you are negative and you keep going down down down without doing anything to correct it. If I go $20 in the hole, I should not be charged $200 when it is all said and done. You call them and they explain why you were wrong, they can take your money and there is not a d**n thing you can do about it.

They also have confusing ways of making there be like 3 different 'balances' so even if you do check online religiously, as I do, their balance is always different. I have 3 balances and not one of them matches what the lady on the phone says!!

This happened to me again today, I am thinking about a serious class action or other form of lawsuit because I cannot afford to pay $300 in overdraft fees the day AFTER I get PAID!!! I have deposited $1700 into my account in the last 2 days and I am still negative over $100 even though my total withdrawals (and I did not have a negative balance before) are $1283.19. How does this happen!? I have a credit union that does not charge overdraft fees hardly EVER. And when they do you deserved it!

Hey, I had a similar problem with US Bank. I had $50 in my account and wrote a $30 dollar check on friday. On Saturday, I bought a $30 item on the internet and then went to deposit $20 in the bank. The $30 got "locked" in the account so when the check went through, I only had $20 in the account; I got an overdraft fee and my balance went to -15, and then the deposit went through for $20, bringing me up to $5 and then the internet purchase was processed, dropping me down to -25 and then -60 because of the second overdraft fee. I told this story to the "us bank sucks" site at http://usbanksucks.portallane.com/contact-us/ and they gave me a free pdf on with steps to resolve this! I got one of the fees waived, which is the worse case for what I was expecting in the first place.

LOL - this has nothing to do with politics. Anyone who thinks so is a fool. Now, to your issue. You admit through your own post that you do not manage your money well. You stated the following: 1. ....so even if you do check online religiously, as I do, their balance is always different. I have 3 balances and not one of them matches what the lady on the phone says!! 2. ....I have deposited $1700 into my account in the last 2 days and I am still negative over $100 even though my total withdrawals (and I did not have a negative balance before) are $1283.19. How does this happen!? If you have to call someone to find out the balance in your account, that is money mismanagement. If you check online everyday to find out the balance in your account, that is money mismanagement. You should be keeping a written accurate checkbook with your transactions documented. The only reason to check online is to determine if there are any unauthorized debits to your account you aren't aware of, or to write down a transaction you may have forgotten. If you don't believe writing your transactions down is of any value to you, think about all of the NSF fees you've incurred and tell me it's not of value to you? Finally, you hit the nail on the head - credit unions. I have used them for 25 years and would not think of opening an account at a bank unless I absolutely needed to and then the account would be dormant most of the time.

When you use your debit card it takes THREE BUSINESS days for the transaction to FULLY clear. The money is taking from you immediately as an authorization, but the full 3 days still need to go by before the transaction is considered fully PAID. During this time any checks presented for payment on your account and other cleared debit transactions affect your AVAILABLE balance. This is when NSF/overdraft charges occur. They are fully valid bank charges. Don't spend more money than you have, balance your checkbook daily if you use your debit card, and always go by your Available Balance.

Ultimately this is a political issue.....Americans have been primarily been voting in conservative politicians to protect "values," but in reality it's all been a bait & switch scam...They're only concerned with the values of big businesses. Banks are basically free to do as they please now.
