During summer, I just had the baby couple months earlier and just bought a new car so I could fit the infant car seat into the back seat.

I started hearing some scrapping noises when pressing on breaks, hoping it wasn't rotors, I went to Valparaiso Tire on US 30 to check them (it was the closest shop to my house). I had to take the baby with me. After spending an hour or 2 of checking it, the mechanic came out and told me that I needed new break pads AND new rotors, I asked him if the rotors can be gridded down, he said no. He told me it'll cost $350, so I told him to go ahead and fix them. I was sitting in the lobby with the baby for about half an hour until I realized I didn't take enough baby formula with me, so I decided to take a walk to Walgreens with the baby while waiting. After a walk in hot weather for half an hour, when I came back, the mechanic apologized to inform me that the wait was for nothing because they turned out did not in fact have the right parts. I asked him if I were to get a discount for the wait, and he told me he'll knock off $50.

While waiting for his call back, the next day I decided to go to another shop and see how much they'd charge me, and ended up finding out that I didn't even need new breaks, nor rotors for that matter. The mechanic said that there was just some dust on the rotors from probably sitting on the lot while for sale and being barely driven, he said it'll clear up in couple of days, which is what ended up happening...4 months later, my breaks are still good.

If you need your car fixed, or even checked, I recommend going to Valparaiso Transmission on Lincolnway, they're very fair in pricing, and they're even willing to give u a ride home (if they're full on staff) while u're waiting for the car to be checked.

Well I would have fixed it myself if I knew how to, unfortunately I am not going to that kind of school that would teach me that, and I'm not sure where you got that idea from lol plus I made this report years ago and no longer have that car.

Why didn't you fix it your self? Your going to school for auto mechanics after all.
