I am sorry that you have been subject of a inferior product. If you know what to buy you will walk away with products of more value than you paid. Van Wagenens has bought my used items and often paid me more than I paid to buy them retail new. The used products that I have bought from this reputable seller in Orem, Utah, have always exceeded the expectations for used firearms. I am a frequent buyer of products from this store and have found all my transactions to be very good. The owner of the store can be irritable when you stand there thinking you know it all. I have had him spend loads of time visiting with me and other days I have rubbed him wrong and he won't give me the time of day. People unfortunately think that they are GOD and that they are always right when they frequently don't spend the time to research the items they want to purchase. He sells used stuff among new. Sometimes you get used stuff that isn't worth crap. If you can't discern crap from gold then you need to shop at Wal-Mart.

I would have to agree with the other rebuttals here. I have made purchases from Van Wagenen's on several occasions, and I have found them to be a very inexpensive, reputable source for my needs. I should make a distinction here though: I don't go to Van Wagenen's for guns. I go there for Audio Equipment. If you've ever been in his store, you know that the entire right half is all guns, and the entire left half is mostly Audio equipment. His audio stuff is great! I bought a two-channel Behringer (sp?) pre-amp for dirt cheap. It came in the box, but was obviously used. You don't go to a pawn shop for new stuff. Some things are new, but when in doubt, JUST FIND OUT! I also bought two mic stands, and two XLR cables, and two C-2 pencil mics for a very decent price. I've used them for several years and never had any trouble. So just to summarize: Van Wagenen's is great for audio stuff as well as guns. He even rents rigs for stage lighting! I've had more than one Audio professor over at UVU refer me to him for gear. A++!!!!!!

Sorry, but I just don't buy your claim that Norm or someone that works for Norm told you to bring it back if you have any problems. I can't tell you how many times over the last 10 years I've been a customer there that I've heard Norm tell other customers that all of his guns are sold AS-IS! That fact is so well known that the only ones who ask have obviously never been there before and can't/haven't read the signs in his store. It stinks that the gun you bought didn't work properly, I'm not doubting you there, but based on my business dealings with Norm I have to believe that you were upset about the rifle, tried to take it back and got even more upset when he wouldn't so you went to the internet to vent and changed to story a bit to make Norm look bad. I have bought dozens of guns from Van Wagenen Finance Company and have never had problem, with used or new, and I saved probably an average of $40 - $80 or more per gun over any other store in the area, possibly even state.

I've purchased several firearms from Norman Van Wagenen when I lived in Utah. I have never had a bad experience with him or his merchandise. He has the lowest prices in the state and is up front about whether a gun is used or new. When I was there, he had a sign that read, "all firearms are used unless otherwise noted" and even some that do come in boxes are used. I have found Norm to be honest and offer very fair prices. The experience that the person complaining had is definitely atypical. I would do business with Norm again.

Van Wagenen Finance Co. has sold me MANY good, high quality firearms over the years, NONE of which has ever failed me. Please note that ALL of the firearms I have bought from them were used, as are most of the guns they have on the shelf. If your gun wasn't in a box with papers, etc. then OBVIOUSLY it was used, and I've never known anyone who works there to lie about it, They have no need to. The prices are clearly marked on the guns and they are what they are - USED, almost all of them. You're also talking about a SAR3, one of the most notoriously crappy guns on the planet! Quality issues are well documented! See the link: CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report. If you want a good price on a good used gun, GO SEE VAN WAGENENS! p.s. I've got a Beretta 92FS that has had THOUSANDS of rounds through it with NO problems - bought it at Van Wagenen's. Oh, I guess I forgot - it's a QUALITY-MADE GUN!
