We bought our mobile home in 1997 and was financed with Ford Credit who was then bought out by The Associates Housing Finance and that is when the trouble began. They hounded us even when our payment was on time. They would hold the payment until it was late and then post it so they could get more interest. We had been living with this for seven years. They would call everyone in our family even when they talked to us. We recently got a letter in the mail from Vanderbuilt Mortgage saying they had purchased our loan from The Associates. Boy our trouble really started. They have all the information on us in the loan papers they have. We have not even received a payment book, we don't know where to send the payments or even the account number for that matter. They have started calling my mother-in-law looking for us. THEY HAVE OUR PHONE NUMBER. The person who calles keeps fishing for information.
My husband is now disabled and so money is tight but we always made our payments. These people don't care about anyone. They tried asking her to give them our cell phone number---we can barely afford the house pmt., how can we afford a cell phone. She told them we had not yet received a pmt book and they told her we would be getting more than a pmt. book. They had no intentions of letting us keep the house when they took over the loan. They have gone as far as to call people with the same last name and ask if they are related to us and to give us a message. Why don't they write a letter. Because then they would have a paper trail of their actions. They do not document the phone calls they make to anyone so they can say you never called or that you talked to anyone. They can have this house back, good luck getting it out and not tearing up my land. This company has been a nightmare to deal with and we have only been with then for one month. They harass everyone connected with us. They don't have the guts to call us directly--they would get an earfull if they did.
They even called a relative asking to speak to my son to try and get information. We owe just as much on this house now as we did when we bought it and I am sure they would try to add more onto it if we wanted to pay it off. They can have it back. I feel for the next person who gets stuck with financing with them. What goes around comes around. They will answer for what they do.
