Why are so many of the comments moronically focused on the tax issue and avoiding the bigger issue -- which is that the person wanted to terminate the service because it doesn't work on the computer -- and Verizon knows it doesn't work on the computer? Since Verizon knows it doesn't and cannot work on the computer, there shouldn't be a fee for early cancelation.
That's obviously the biggest issue raised here. Why would comment avoid the subject to the point of idiocy?

Try calling the following people. I hope this helps you! Penelope, Did you bother to ask whether the quote given included taxes or not? Why not? It is just common sense to know that taxes will be charged. No rip off here. Simple common sense. And, any other service you had here in the Sarasota - Bradenton area charged you taxes and fees too. Why would you think Verizon FIOSwould be different? Were you with Brighthouse prior to FIOS? They charge taxes and fees too, which they DO NOT advertise in their TV promotions.

If sales tax is never disclosed on advertised prices, then it should be disclosed to the customer at the time the contact is made. Verizon disquises it's answers to suit their needs and does not relay that taxes will be extra. Any sales representative at Verizon will confirm this if you ask them.

Penelope, Taxes are always extra! You know this when you go to the store, right. You know this from whatever other cable or phone servivce you had before, right? Just common sense. HOWEVER, I too had a bad experience with the Verizon FIOS thing just last month. I ordered that same package, but at a lower promotional price. I took a day off work for the scheduled appointment and it went downhill from there fast. First, the installer couldn't find my house even though it is clearly marked in 2 different places. He did call from his Personal, BLOCKED cell phone and did not leave a message or a callback number. Real professionalism there. Then, he insists it has to be installed at the power meter, but on my house that is impractical due to the age and configuration/construction. He came unprepared to do the job properly as he could have added some fiber cable and got it done. He wanted to string an electrical power cord from that spot 15 feet around the corner of the house under the eve. I said...WHHHHAAAAATTTT?? Not only is that against code, he is not a licensed electrical contractor either! He cannot legally run anything electrical! The only reason he wanted to run it by the power meter was for use of the ground rod. I asked him if he could just put in another ground rod...He said no, I don't have any more on the truck. Then I asked if he would just use another one near the desired point from a prior phone install, he said he could not use it. I asked why not, and he had no answers. He just made up his mind from the start he did not want to do it right. I called customer service and they wanted to re-schedule it. I asked if they thought it was reasonable that I should take another day off work for their mistakes. They did not see the problem. Lies all around and total unprofessionalism. I'll stay with Brighthouse for 20 bucks more and no contract. They screwed themselves on this one. FYI...2 of my friends have Verizon FIOS and both had similar install problems, but neither one has the install anywhere near the power meter. Why is that? I rest my case.
