My wife ordered free address stickers from the popular company VistaPrint. The stickers were sent as ordered for a low shipping cost. What my wife didn't see was that she subscribed to (or maybe didn't) some unknown service from teh company AP9.
We first noticed this gimmick when we saw a hold of $14.95 for AP9 BusinessMax on our checking account. We found out it was a subscription service and called AP9's toll-free number (888-840-6296). According to the company AP9, my wife had agreed to a subscription of some service through VistaPrint.com when she ordered. My wife disagrees. We promptly canceled.
It is difficult to determine what she subscribed through on VistaPrint and what AP9 actually does, but it is obviously profitable for VistaPrint since many order free products such as business cards, pens, and stickers (you pay shipping). VistaPrint.com is such a large business that some are bound to be duped into ordering something they didn't notice in the fine print.
The big question is: Why is such a large company such as VistaPrint risking their reputation by tricking people into another subscription scam?
I, for one, am finished with the likes of VistaPrint. They should know better than to get in cahoots with some shady business that offers nothing of real value. I've never been impressed by VistaPrint's business cards anyway.
