Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Two young men just appeared at our door wearing bright orange t shirts saying VIVINT across breast and baseball caps.  Around their necks were lanyards.  They pounded very hard on our door and never tried the doorbell.  I did not open the door and tried talking to them through small crack between door and door jamb.  One man (Raoul? - couldn't be sure because he would not leave his name tag there long enough for me to see and wouldn't show it again when asked) told me to open the door so he could share some security info with me.  He said he wanted to come inside and check out our security system because it was lacking in features that would ultimately lead to our being harmed.

I told him I would not open the door and asked him to leave literature or a card with the web address. He kept shouting that he couldn't hear me.  Finally my husband and I called through the door for him to go away.  He refused and kept trying to convince us to open the door.  After three attempts to tell him to go away, my husband told him that he was trespassing and that he had to leave or the police would be called.  He said, "Call the police you fu**ing idiots".

I called the company and reported the incident to Zack in Customer Service.  I am still awaiting a phone call from someone higher on the pecking order, and did ask him to make sure that someone in top management phoned me back.   I did call the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) to report the incident because the one representative was bullying, threatening and menacing.  All I can say is that judging by the thug who came to my door, I would not want to have anything to do with this company.

This moron Jake is a shill for the company.  These security systems are a rip off.  I should know, I used to install them.  They (the company) care nothing about your security, they just want to sell their crap.

You did right by refusing entrance to these thugs.  Everyone has the right not to be bothered or harassed by peddlers.  If you need security go to a local agent and not one of these lick and stick big companies.  If you do have an emergency with one of these companies, someone in India or the Philippines will respond to you right away.

If this company had any INTEGRITY, they would just contact their customers by phone, (or mail) instead of sending out these goons to harrass and cuss them.

AWFUL!

Better put out the alert.

sounds like your the type of family on the block thats scared of everyone, and every things a scam.  From your post it sounds like you already have a system, so obviously security is important to you and your husband.  If thats the case why not hear what they have to say so you can at least make an educated decision.  Anyone with half a brain would want, at the bare minimum, to know what is available because the truth is, the system you have in your house probably isn't the best thing under the sun.

When we switched our ADT system to APX, now Vivint, it was an easy decision.  We had ADT for years, and it was fine, but its common knowledge now that these older systems use a phone line, and if cut your system, and our old one, is turned into just a bell and whistle.

Ive had loads of people come to our door before selling security, but there wasn't much difference between what they were offering and what we had.  Apx was different, we figured that out by listening and not hiding behind our door.  We love our system, its completely independent from our phone line, and they use an intercom to verify emergencies in the house instead of just trying to call our home.

I cant help but laugh at all these entries calling them a scam. I bet a good portion of these are written from companies that are loosing their business to these guys, and the others are either people too scared to open their door, or people that cant take responsibility for the actions they make and feel the need to push the fault elsewhere.

I remember having to take a survey going over everything that was on our contract.  They are extremely clear about every last detail.  I pitty the people writing these complaints, and even more-so those that are stupid enough to actually base their decisions off these threads.

As far as that representative, there are no excuses for his actions if thats what really did happen, but honestly I think your milking a story.  If your scared enough to not talk to a few straight cut college aged guys in the neighborhood your in, then you probably need to update your alarm more than anyone.

Open your door and just listen to what people have to say, sometimes you might be surprised, and if not then you can at least say you've made an educated decision.

Through his company I was able to go on their website and identify the person who came to my door.  His name is Rahul Chakravorty, Badge Number 32585.  I am still waiting for someone from upper management to contact me.  The police called back, took the report, looked for these guys but couln't find them.  They now have his name and badge number, and will keep me apprised.
