volution.com markets a $10/mth Plan but hides the fact that a new merchant must pay for SSL (no one can sell a product without secure encryption) and a myriad of other fees, including an extra $25 if there are NO transactions in a month.

volution confirmed it cancelled the Plan part of my account Aug. 7 and stated I would receive one last bill for August. Then I received a bill for September well after volution transferred the money out of my bank account. Not making everything clear when starting an account and when cancelling an account - that the transaction part of an account must be cancelled as a separate process - is marginally legal but highly unethical. An ethical company has software that detects when an account has not been completely cancelled and notifies the customer....not volution.

volution committed fraud. It charged me $10 on my Sept. bill even though they acknowledged the plan was cancelled in August. They refuse to reimburse me. Another part of their fraud is a internet gateway fee of $17.99, PCI DSS Compliance fee of $3.41, fixed acq network fee 1 of $3.50, and Reg Comp fee of $3,77. I only found out after seeing a strange charge that I was being charged an extra $25 when I had no transactions in a month, when volution had nothing to process. They explicitly market plans starting at $10 but do not disclose clearly and upfront what are all of the other fees it heaps on a merchant.

volution refuses to credit me for at least Sept. fees, including the cancelled Plan fee of $10. I have now read a large volume of reviews from other former merchants who expressed very similar experiences and treatment.

volution does provide a list of all of the fees after subscription and volution does alert the merchant after canceling a Plan that he/she must separately cancel other services. So there is no fraud, just hype for Plan price in marketing w/o stating true/usual monthly fees, and later telling you all of the true fees.  Be aware that you are signing an ANNUAL contract and cancelling before that will/can result in a $99 penalty fee.

A suggestion for very small merchants, especially those starting a web store, look at other simpler, far less costly and less cumbersome products. 3dcart is great for small web stores, support is fast and good, transactions and processing orders is simple and transparent. I joined with a promo of a free $99 store template...I picked a template which is clear and feels relaxing, and support staff helped to make it my new template. Paypal was easy to create and I choose Dwolla for direct transfer of checking account funds to my account because 3dcart supports it well and it is also very inexpensive. This time I'm avoiding credit card processing and customers have used Paypal with no complaints. 3dcart says the lowest priced plan is $10 and includes all "detail fees" and wow that is all I've been charged each month. All that and I can cancel 3dcart any month - no annual plan.
