In early June (2006) I called Vonage to talk about opening an account. They immediately sent out a box for me to install an aparatus on my phone. I told them via phone that I didn't ant to deal with this as I had to leave for the north as my Mother wasn't well. I was gone for a month and upon my return I was overwhelmed with work and catchup and didn't even think of the Vonage package which was still unopened.

Then to my horror, I realized that my Amex had been charged every month and even after I called Amex, the costs of usage of a telephone line i didn't ever use, continued. I contacted Vonage customer Service and was told that I DO indeed owe the money (129.00) and that further if I wanted to disconnect? (I was never connected) that I would have to pay 39.95. I informed the woman(Melany) I was speaking with that she was NOT to charge anything further on my Amex. She hung up on me.

I then called Amex to tell them to once again dispute the Vonage charges, as there should have only been one and that would have been 14.95 for the gadget to attach to my telephone. The monthly charges shouldn't have been charged to my account. The service wasn't ever connected. These people are downright thieves. Imagine how many elders are trying to save money and get "hooked" in (excuse the pun) by these slugs.

DO SOMETHING PLEASE. STOP THEM.
