What to expect in civil court? I have served on a jury in civil court and I would recommend hiring an attorney. WalMart will have one and of course he will be well paid. As I said I was on a jury for shoplifting and it was hard to dispute what the plantiffs were saying, I am not saying you are guilty but as someone said your story does not make sense even if it is what happened.
Best thing to do is go and be calm do not lose your temper and tell your story as straughtforwards as you possibly can and then hope the judge or jury believes you but be warned the little guy often is looked upon as being guilty.
Good luck, you will need it.

yes robert i know it sounds spotty, but im just telling it as it is, and i have had enough expierence going into the wal mart in my town to know when its a good time and not with the short time i have after work and then having to be back home to take care of my *autistic* child,, yes inspector that was directed at you and most likely she and my wife are gonna have to be with me at court, so when the judge see how she respondes acts and poses, i dont wanna hear a thing from you inspector, but yes i know the boxcutter wasnt gonna help me i know,, and i asked later about seeing the surveliance video, and they told me it wasnt available since they were installing new cameras in the store, but they did have the word of the witness,,, all im doing right now is researching and trying to get a basic idea what to expect when i go to i guess its civil court

It sounds like you may have a few things that could be tough to explain.
First because the parking lot was full at the first Wal-Mart, you drive to the next town over? Unless you are saying that there was not a single space in that Wal-Mart and the "next town over" was only a mile or two away, this seems a bit excessive. Especially for just an SD Card.
Why did you all of the sudden decide to go to the restroom, when just before that you stated you were on your way to the Check-Out. Yes when you "got to go" you "got to go", but you are going to have to convince them that the timing was perfect that between the time you left the restroom and was on your way back to the place where you left the SD card you got a text that told you to come home.
Hopefully the Car Stereo section between the place you picked up the SD card and the registers. As if they are out of the way, you are going to have to come up with another reason why you were in that area after you stated you were on the way to the registers. I say this because while I do avoid Wal-Marts, I tend to remember the electronic department in the middle of the store, the automotive department in the totally opposite direction of the registers at the back of the store. Also, you should have the text saved on your phone to show that she did text you, to at least verify some of the story.
Having a box cutter which can make it very easy to get into the SD Card package again does not help your case. This is also where your restroom visit could cause you a problem. Because they could claim that you had the blade in the cutter, but went in there to remove the blades.
Is there enough to convict you of shoplifting/attempted shoplifting. Hard to say, but at the very least there is a lot of circumsantial evidence that does not make it easy for you. Hopefully they do not have you on video doing anything questionable. As for the trespass warning, they have that right so not much you can do about that. But first and foremost you need a good lawyer.

Better get another story before you see the judge, this one is full of holes and the autistic child line has been done to death.
