Jeremy, I am very, very sorry to hear about the troubles you are having gaining employment in the Monticello area. I also wish you well should you decide to pursue a lawsuit for discrimination against the Walmart in question. In light of your emotional state and your obvious frustration and upset, (I hope, since this post has aged that you are now gainfully employed and the matter is resolved), I hope you will reconsider your statement that Monticello has the highest unemployment rate in the country and indeed all of Indiana. Head up 55 to some of the farming communities and see how bad it is! Monticello is a small town, I agree with you there, and it's not always easy to find a job, especially in the winter months when the beach is closed. However, Monticello has grown rapidly in the last couple of decades. (For those unfamiliar with the area-After it was wiped out by tornado in the 70's, it began to rebuild as a resort town, centering around two man-made lakes and an imported beach.) If you can't find something at the beach, I'm willing to bet that one of the Marina's will take you on for the summer. (after your seasonal job at Walmart has ended) If, by chance, you have any kind of construction experience at all, I know of several companies I can put you in touch with. And, if all else fails, the temporary employment agency is quite good, as are the state run job-training facilities. When I lived there my X got a decent job just a few miles north that way. (in Remington.) Keep your chin up and don't give up. Having lived in your area all my life, I know "where there's a will, there's a way." Wishing you all the best,

Jeremy,
I wouldn't know about a discrimination suit since I don't know anything about you. I suggest you go to Wal-Mart.com and write a letter to the president. The Home Office will investigate the matter. Your issue doesn't sound like discrimination; it seems to me that your issue is with your ex-wife's best friend. If you can prove what you said about her following your ex's instructions then that will be your complaint in addition to your feeling mislead in your employment.
People are strange--if I had an ex and four kids I would want him to be gainfully employed so I could get child support. There's just no accounting for judgment.
Keep in mind that the Letter to the President is instantaneous. The Home Office takes about 24 hours to parcel them out, make sure you give a phone number where you can be contacted.
Good Luck!

After going through all the different managers I got through to the regional manager his name is Gregg Sullivan. then Mr Sullivan had the distric manager Larry Witlow yet both of these men were to call me back and never did. Gee and they PROMISED ME THEY WOULD. Gee what a deal say it and don't do it.
So finally on November 14,2002 Larry Witlow called almost a week after he told me he promised he would call me back the following day. what a quick turn around time huh!! Now instead of giving me the full time position i was hired for now that I have called all the way to the top now they say they are giving me a job for just the christmas season. this would be till January 1st. Also there would be no chance for me to go full time. Larry witlow also told me that everyone they have hired after September 1st was hired as seasonal help.
This is really funny cause my neighbor was hired in the middle of September and she is full time with benifits and will have a job after the holidays. Plus it appears the two others that were hired after me are full time also. So why am I just seasonal? Is it due to me standing up for my self? If anyone else has had an issue about employement or other employee issues feel free to write me. I have consulted with my attorney and he says that I have a solid discrimination case that will hold out in a jury trial. So if anyone that is or has been discriminatied against as an employee please let me know the more people that stand up for themselves we can stop this long history of made to feel little.
