I had fully intended to continue at Walden University for my doctoral program until I had the unfortunate occurance of a car accident. I did not continue my classwork since I was having issues due to memory and concentration. I had documentation of the car accident and I showed due cause to discontinue going to school.
Walden University reviewed my documentation and now I still owe over $700 dollars. I discontinued the second week of a class and I was still charged for the class. I finally withdrew from the doctoral program.
I sent the proper documentation to obtain a waiver and a waiver was not given. I was told it was policy. It does not matter what happens in a persons life. It is just policy, no matter what.
This is a school that purports wanting to 'affect positive social change'. This is not affecting positive social change. This is affecting the botton line which is profit.
I am not able to show to any employer my informal or formal transcripts. Walden is keeping them from me. Until I pay what I owe in full I will not be able to show what classes I took at Walden University. This is unacceptable and unethical. I had shown documentation. This was not quitting on a whim. It was a car accident.
I would recommend that noone go to Walden University unless they are able to pay the fees in full without loans. It is a for profit university with unethical conduct unbecoming of an educational institution.
Personal Recommendations:
Look into a local college instead and then get a 2 or 4 year degree in something that is highly needed by society Nursing, Hospital jobs, etc. By the way, I am a psychology professional. I do not make statements lightly. I would rather make positive statements. I do not relish making negative statements. I just want to warn potential students. If I can affect positive social change by warning others, I will.
