I received a defective item from Walmart.com. They are refusing to take the item back and issue me a refund.

I ordered a "3 Seaters Kids Ride On Truck with Remote Control, Military Vehicle Car Toy for Toddlers, Bluetooth Function, Four Wheels Suspension" order number 3282136-661309 from walmart.com for $499.00 ($528.94 after taxes). Upon receiving and assembling my item, I discovered that it is defective. The vehicle does not turn to the right. Also, when pressing the accelerator, the vehicle does not move forward consistently. It stops and will not move for several seconds and then eventually moves forward slightly before stopping again. The battery is fully charged.

When I discovered that the item was defective, I called Walmart customer service and was told to return the item to the store. On my next day off I packed the item, drove 42 miles to the Walmart in Summersville, WV, and was told by the store associate that their printer was broken and they could not accept the return. I was directed to take the item to the Walmart in Flatwoods, WV, another 40 miles away. The associate there told me that the item was not eligible for in store return because it has a battery which is considered hazardous material and that Fed-Ex will not pick up hazardous material. I stated that I would not take the item back to my house and that Walmart needed to resolve the issue.

The item is now assembled and does not fit back into the box. It is extremely large. I do not have a printer to print a label. The store associate called Walmart.com and upon much discussion between the store, the online associate, and myself, I was finally told that if I would take the item back home that a special pick up would be arranged and that I would not need a box or a shipping label and someone would pick it up in the next 48 hours. I reluctantly packed the item back up and returned home. However, the follow-up email I received from Walmart.com was instructions to print a shipping label and box the item up and arrange pickup with Fed-Ex.

When I called to clarify I was then told that I needed to arrange pickup with Modern Depo because it is not a Walmart item. I am incredibly upset by this entire experience. I have been told something different by every person I have spoken with. I spent my entire day off and $60 in gas money driving to different walmarts with the end result being that it was a waste of my time and resources as well as putting my small children through a great deal of distress as they were contained in a vehicle all day, hungry and thirsty and not close to a bathroom. I need an immediate resolution of this problem. I need the item picked up. I need a refund in my bank account. And I need compensation for my time, gas, and pain and suffering caused to my children in the attempt to return the item according to the instructions given.

You can still get a refund

I found this just lurking the walmart tag... I know you can go online and get a refund. They will usually never accept refunds from online orders in the store.. thats how it always works, and im sorry you went through this. i would be mad too if i couldnt get a refund of nearly $600. I work for walmart as a team associate stocker. I help customers with this all the time.

Here's how to do it: (got this all from google btw)

  1. Open the Walmart mobile app or website and tap or click "Account".
  2. Tap or click "Pickup & delivery purchase history".
  3. Find your order and tap or click "Start a return".
  4. Choose the item and follow the steps on the screen to receive your refund or start the return process.

And when you're finished you should be able to get the return done solidly. I do know you need to get it shipped back to the company through the walmart itself, i have heard that before. In the WORST case scenerio you will get a gift card in the mail. The phone number to the walmart online website is 1 (800) 925-6278 - press 0 immediately at any robot voice to get a human and you should be able to explain this to them. They should make this right. I'm sorry for your expirience again, i hope my post helps you and i hope it isnt too late to get a refund for you!

if anything go to the store itself after you get the refund process going and go there, ask to speak to the store manager, and let him or her know you had to wait so long to get this going because they never explained this process to you accurately and neglected to let you know. front end management is usually really lazy when it comes to online order refunds because its so complex and it takes so much time to help them, and they usually think the worst is going to happen (they get in trouble for trying to help you, you're going to rip the store off and they will be blamed for it, or they just downright do not care and want to go home, and shrug off anyone who needs help in the first place) and i feel its bullshit to treat a person that way, as everyone deserves a fighting chance to a refund. after all, that $600 can be a brand new pool, a house or car payment and could go to anything else much more worthwhile than a kiddie toy that doesnt work.
