We purchases a warranty from Warranty USA in May 2001. We spoke to someone at our dealership who told us that Warranty USA was one of the companies on their "Black List" because they took so long to pay for repairs. They suggested that if we stayed with Warranty USA, it might be a good idea to have some extra cash if we needed repairs done, because the shop would not release the vehicle until the bill was paid.

We decided to cancel, and contacted Warranty USA who assured us we would be receiving our refund in 2-3 weeks ($332.00). In June we received a letter stating that they acknowledged our cancelation, and we should receive our refund in 6-8 weeks.

Eight weeks later we began a series of calls to Warranty USA, and each time they assured us that the account was due a refund and they were waiting on accounting to disburse the check. Each time they stated that they would flag the account so that accounting would be aware that we ("the customers") were waiting

for our refund.

My lawyer sent the company a letter, along with all the backup information I had (ie. letters from the company, ect.), but the Warranty USA never responded.

I called last week (May 2, 2002) hoping maybe the representative would have some different news, and actually they did. They told me that the company was bankrupt and that many people were getting laid off. He said that he didn't even know if he would be there tomorrow! So where does that leave me? Ripped-off!
