Washington Mutual abused, mistreated, ripoff and decieved Carlsbad California
I went to open a "free checking" account at Washington Mutual and the lady "Laura" who was helping me told me that Washington Mutual doesn't have just checking accounts by themselves anymore.Laura then told me I had to open a savings account and keep $300.00 in there at all times or put 25.00 per month in a savings account.I didn't have the money on me so I left and came back a few days later where another person confirmed that was the policy.
I read through the information they gave me which said nothing about having to open a saving account to have a checking account.I called their 800 number which confirmed that they do have just checking accounts and they're free.I then called the bank where some lady told me that "sometimes" they do that if the person doesn't have an existing account.
I said that's not a Washington Mutual policy,so do you make up your own policies?She said "i'll have the manager call you."The manager called and apologized and said she didn't know why they told me that.Seems everyone there was under the impression that you needed a savings account too.Gee wonder why?I do know that this bank is full of liars and scammers so watch out.
