I bought a used truck on 09/26/02. When I purchased the truck the salesman informed me that the check engine light was on, and they would fix it. I took the truck home and told them I would bring it back on friday on my day off.

They sent the truck out to be fixed and did not give me a rental. When I picked up the truck all seemed fine until I was almost home and the light came back on. I called them back and they told me that I had to drive it for 50 miles so the computer could reset itself.

I drove it for 400 miles and the light was still on. I took it back the next friday to have the computer reset. Webb ford told the repair shop not to hurry because they gave me a rental car, which they did not. When i got it back same thing happened, after I left the light came back on. I took it straight back to the shop and talked to the owner. The owner in turn told me I needed a new fuel pump but could not do anything unless it was okayed by Webb Ford.

Webb told them to give me back the truck because they had to check their records and see whether it was my problem or theirs. I had to drive it for another week until I had another day off. I took the truck back the next friday and they said that they would replace the fuel pump but I had to pay a $100.00 deductable. I refused to pay anything and they acted like they did me a favor and said they would waive the fee. How nice of them.

I got a loaner car from one of the salesmen but had to return it before 5:00 because that was his demo car. I had to use my insurance to get a rental car for the rest of the day and the next day. They called me the next morning and told me my truck was done so i took the rental back and went to get my truck.

Now here comes the good part. After I picked up my truck I went to get it emmission tested so I could go get plates, because my paper plates expired 2 days ago. It did not pass emmissions! They told me to drive it for a little bit and then bring it back to see if the truck computer would reset itself. While I was driving around on expired plates the check engine light came back on. I've just about had enough. I took the truck back to Webb Ford and told them I did not want it anymore.

They told me that they are not required to make them pass emmissions just to make sure all the parts are on there. Well isnt that nice of them. Then they told me that I was upside down on my truck which I had purchased only 1 month ago. I paid $16,000.00 for the truck and now they say it is only worth $10,000.00 Basically what that means is that a truck that I bought a month ago cost me $6,000.00 for one month.

That is a pretty hefty car payment dont you think. It must be for the storage fee because they have had the truck more than I have. I'm still not done yet I have to take it back tomorrow because they didnt have enough time to fix it today so they just put it back together, so bring it back tomorrow. If anybody knows one of the Webb Boys and could get me their number or e-mail I would surely appreciate it. Hope your buying experience is better than mine.

cheap inspection... Pep Boys does a 115 point inspection for $29.95

When ever buying a used vehicle, especially if it is out of its original factory warranty ask the dealer if you can have it inspected from a shop of your choice. Pep Boys does a 115 point inspection for $29.95 just tell them you saw it advertised on ebaymotors.com Call them ahead of time and make an appointment. If the dealer resists, walk on the deal. Any dealer that would not do this you "don't" want to deal with. It will be the best $30 buck investment you can make. I sell used cars for a living and offer every used car buyer this option. Sincerely, Uzedcarman

You baught a truck with the Check engine light coming on?

Why on earth would you buy a car or truck with the Check engine light coming on? As soon as you saw that you should have jumped out of it and not even thought of buying a junker like that. Never ever buy a car that has an obvious fault. You don't know if it was a teenager's truck who liked to "floor it" to and from school. Every day. No matter what..... Here are some basic rules to buying a car: 1. Buy the curent edition of consumers report magazine on cars and look at the cars you are interested in for reliability. 2. Never buy a car that has an obvious problem. i.e. Check engine light comes on. Or ANY other light that comes on and stays on. Or an engine block that has a crack on it. Check the oil to see if it's burned or in bad condition. Check the Transmision fluid. Check the parking fluid to see if it's full. Check the radiator fluid to see if it's bright green. If it isn't, or looks muddy, forget it!!!! The tires, etc. 3. Take it for a test drive. Is it pulling to one side? Forget it. Do you hear a noise or rattling sound? Forget it. Does it vibrate when at a red light? Grinding noise? Brakes don't feel right? FORGET IT!!! 4. After you've done a complete lookover, and it has passed your tests, take it to a qualified mechanic and pay him to look at it. Well worth the 50 or 70 dollars to save you thousands in repairs if the insides are melted away. 5. If the mechanic says all systems go, and consumer reports agrees. Then and only then should you buy the car. There are many many quality cars out there. You don't have to get stuck with a lemon. Just do some of these things, it will take you less than 2 hours.

I took my truck back as stated to hopefully be repaired. I was told to bring it in the morning and they would get started on it as soon as possible. They told me they found the problem which was a wire that goes to the computer. I was told this would only take a couple of hours to repair so I figured I would wait.

After about a half of an hour sitting there a serviceman told me that they could not get started on it for a few hours and it was going to take a few hours to fix. I was not going to sit there all day, so I asked for a demo or rental car. They refused and told me it was not their problem. I went to the used car department and talked to the sales manager and explained what was going on. He told me it was not his problem either.

We got into an argument, and I told him I will call the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. This did not seem to have scared him because he didnt care. Maybe he thinks I was just trying to intimidate him. Anyway I got nowhere. I called and got a ride home. They called at about 2:00 pm and said my truck was done once again. I got a ride back up there. I went to the service department to get my keys, where they informed me that it is now the processor that is causing the problem. They had to order it and it will not be in for a week.

I tlod them once again it would have to be on Friday of next week. I took my truck and headed home. I got about a mile away from Ford when the truck started to loose power. I turned back around and headed back. The truck has a V8 engine that could have been outrun by a turtle with no legs. It went back into the service department where they looked at it again. I was told once again to drive the truck so the computer could reset itself. Ive done that yesterday and today, and now the truck runs worse than when I bought it. I have to drive about 200 miles a day to and from work so I guess I better leave now so I can make it there by tomorrow. I am also waiting for a phone call from one of the Webb Boys, lets see how that works out. If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate them. Iwill not give up until I am treated like a human being.
