I will try and keep this short and simple.

I've owned my home for a number of years and my mortgage was with my credit union. Very uneventful, payed payments, money credited, so on..

In 2003 we were looking to do some improvements and the local Wells Fargo Mortgage agent talked us into refinancing through her. Signed up asked questions (specifically that we can keep paying bi-weekly as we had done with the credit union) "yes, no problem"

Right away, payments were not applied properly, first months payment was a week early, they applied all of it to the pricipal and a couple weeks later they send us a late notice. This routine went on for the next few months until I got ahold of a helpful gentleman who "fixed" the situation and things were good.

Very uneventful for quite some time until a couple of months ago when I started getting late payment notices. (Note: our payments are automatically generated and payed by our credit union, this is a no-brainer and should give us no problems - always payed and on time).

Seems Wells Fargo, puts your money on hold (suspended payment/unapplied) for as long as they see fit.

They did this in June of 2005, applying 3 partial payments (that should have been 1 payment and a half) as a whole payment with the balance going to principle again. The problem simply compounded from there with no notices from wells fargo. As this is an autopay account, I did not notice it until the notices came in the mail.

After a 4 hour conversation with various reps of wells fargo I did get some resolution. I asked the lady "If this happened to you would you want it fixed?" She quietly replied "yes" and said she would get right on it.

Fast forward 2 weeks, a bunch of notices and warnings that forclosure proceedings would start if the account was not brought up to date. I call again, 20 minutes this time! Rather quick call. Seems the letters stating that I was $2400+ behind were wrong. Only $916 behind. I am getting an account history as well so that I can get things fixed. However I still should not be $916 behind and to top that off I sent $270 in 2 weeks ago (that is what the lady said I would need to be up to date with the fixes she was making).

Wells Fargo Mortgage is awful. If you are considering a mortgage with them turn tail and run!

My husband and I are first time home owners. We have been paying our mortgage bi-weekly AND paying extra. Wells Fargo actually called us ANGRY about paying too much AND too often. They actually do not always apply the payments to the mortgage. If the payment is not made on the due date, they float around in space somewhere. I literally called them last friday regarding $500 I just paid them and they could not tell me where exactly it was. All they could say is that it is my fault that I paid before the due date. So I never actually received an answer as to where my money went to. It's not in my bank account, that is for sure.
