I think that I am a relatively normal human being. I make mistakes and I will readily admit that I am not perfect. I try my best but sometimes my best isn't enough.

I banked with Wells Fargo for a few years before I finally called it quits. I paid my share of overdraft charges before I decided to move elsewhere.

Last week I received an overdraft notice from Wells Fargo even though I had not used my account in over three years.

What happened was that in my glee after winning an online auction i clicked on my paypal account and payed with the wrong bank account. ooops. Wells Fargo did not honor the withdrawl for $9.96 or the second one for $20. They refused them both not even honoring tham and charged me $30 each two times over. $120.

I called twice today to try and resolve it. I was even willing to negotiate. Not only was I told that they would not overturn them I was also patronized and made to feel like an irresponsible little kid.

"unfortunately you will have to pay....."

We all make honest (and sometimes stupid) mistakes. I don't need Wells Fargo lurking over my shoulder and drooling waiting for me to make another one.

How long is it going to take before there are lawsuits against banks for their behavior. What they are doing may not be illegal. But from what I have seen personally as well as heard from other Wells Fargo customers it is absolutely dispicable.

I actually had the same thing happen to me except that my account was supposed to be closed period. After I moved out here to Ohio, I sent Wells Fargo a formal request to have the account closed as instructed through an email (since I did not have a physical branch in this area in which to close the account). Paypal accidentally pinged the old account instead of taking the funds off of my mastercard. I recieved a call from Wells Fargo stating that I owed them $37 for fees on an account that was supposed to be closed a year ago! And when I called them, they said that the account was reopened because it was pinged by Paypal and denied twice. They are trying to hold me responsible for the fees when all the while I was trying to explain to them that the account was supposed to be closed and by closed, I meant for good! The woman on the phone told me that the activity made the account reopen, which is simply ridiculous because that means that my account number could be stolen and any activity could reopen the account and be honored! This should be illegal.
