December, 2007,

Werner is full of stories, one of the best is the advertised owner operator pay used to entice new applicants, $120,000.00 dollars per year and $180,000.00 dollars per year for owner operator trainers; that must follow directly after the $300.00 per week paid for the 60 hours of driving pr. wk.

Roughly about $3.85 cents per hour at 40 hours per week, plus overtime; Get into the Company truck and be ready to make a whopping $8.00 per hour plus OT.

I love this Company, I also love having Anal a*s Sex with Men who have full blown aids and who are on there death bed receiving last rites of passage from a Gay priest, who in turn is wearing a rainbow colored scarf, a plastic crucifix around his neck, and a laminated picture of Jesus Christ pasted to his forehead. If that's not crazy enough, it gets crazier! (One Big Happy Family).

Figure it out, If you paid your drivers $3.85 per hour plus OT, you would be one of the largest Truck carriers in the nation; In return you could take all that money and purchase up the state of Hawaii, that's exactly what Werner is doing.

I will keep you updated.

I am confused by your posts as you refer to Owner Operator income, then talk about employee wages. Which is it? An Owner Operator is an independent contractor, so wages, and rights of employees do not apply. Although I am no fan of Werner, I do know for a fact they are right up front with what you get paid, and when. They disclose the training pay right up front. If you did not like it, you should have declined the offer and went elsewhere. If you were forced to work more hours as an employee than was equal to the Federal Minimum wage, than you need to file a wage claim with the USDOL. Or seek out Union Representation through organization. YOU can start an organizing campaign. The $300 a week is SALARY, not hourly wage. And, OTR Truck Drivers even if paid hourly ARE NOT required to get overtime pay, by law. Most OTR companies operate under the 70 hour rule, and after that you are off duty to restart your hours. $300 divided by 70 hours is $4.28 per hour. Keep in mind that they are providing you training free of charge and they are absorbing the cost of training you, and they are not getting any revenue in return. This is just the way it works in the Trucking Industry. If you want UNION wages, go apply at a UNION COMPANY.
