Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My laptop's LCD screen was damaged. Immediately needing it back for my business, I sent it in to "portablecomputer.com". They confirmed its arrival on 08/5/2005. I approved the repair & paid them on 08/8/2005. I was promised repair takes normally 2-3 days.

On 8/16/2005. They still did not complete repair. They claimed a 'depot / manufacturer' had trouble with it. I was promised completion on 8/19/2005, 8/22/2005, & 8/23/2005, but still failed to complete repair. I decided to cancel my service with them if they failed to complete repair on 8/25/2005.

They did not complete repair. On 8/25/2005, the website was shut down. I did not receive a call or email from Mr. Wesley Forrester. I called many times on 8/25/2005 & 8/26/2005.

They did not pick up their phone. I called his cell phone 8/28/2005 at 3 a.m. I left a message, informing him I wanted to cancel my service & wanted a UPS tracking number, that has a package with a $195 refund & laptop in the condition it was sent to him (minus $15 S&H) on or before 9/2/2005, 3 p.m. PST.

If he failed, I would contact BBB, Bad Business Bureau, Complaints.com, the Roseville police department & my lawyer immediately for potential legal actions, if necessary.

On 8/30/2005, he promised the tracking number on or before 9/2/2005 in a phone conversation at 8-9 a.m. PST. On 9/2/2005, 3 p.m. PST, I still received no tracking number. I received no email or call update about the situation. I have called the business multiple times. The website is -still- down. I did not receive a $195 refund or my expensive laptop.

I discovered that this business has an unsatisfactory record & other consumers have similar, but unfortunate testimonials. Please help. I don't think I can recover my money & product on my own anymore. I need assistance.. :(

Please do not use and / or disclose this address & contact information inappropriately.

I would suggest all people needing an LCD repair, rely on onsite repairs & always check them out! I had another laptop repaired in just an hour with onsite service for just $89. I just wish it was my laptopbut it was my next door neighbor's..

Don't make the same mistake I did. If I could, I'd help put a stop to businesses like portablecomputer.com. (although the site is shut down at this time.)

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I have indeed got in contact with BBB. However, I like to have interactions with others as well in these type of situations, so I just did not go to the BBB of Northeast California, but I also took it to Complaints.com, the bad business bureau of course, and also the Federal Trade Commission (before I found out about Mr. Forrester's business being investigated by police) for fraud investigation possibilities. I plan to contact BEAR, as I knew about this but never did it yet. However, doing so I know may open consideration into revoking Mr Forrester's License for his inability to maintain a professional service, & for those who have experienced this: For not keeping his word. So basically, for anyone else that may be having this problem: - Contact the local Roseville police department at Elaine Karlson's extension: (916) 746-1069 (number is above). - File a professional & respectful report with the BBB of Sacramento (Northeastern california) (http://www.bbb.org/) - Send an eMail of your experience using http://www.complaints.com/ - File a report with the Federal Trade Commission (http://www.ftc.gov/). - Contact BEAR at (916) 574-2069 (thank you, Martin) - Prepare for action with the use of a local small claims court in your area. I'm just happy my laptop personally is in police custody. However, I will help others who may or may not be as fortunate by empowering them with choices they may not have considered. I am sure Martin will do so as well.

Update on portablecomputer.com

I called someone in the Roseville police department (916) 746-1069, who's name is Elaine K. After giving her my proof of purchase & serial number of my laptop, she told me they had my eMachines laptop in their custody, along with 160 others, & complaints from people who claimed to have placed an order for equipment that they never received. That means that he possibly had over $150,000 in equipment, who knows how much in repair payments, & who knows how much in payments from people who bought something from him that he never sent. A search warrant was issued against portablecomputer.com on August 25th, 2005, the same day that http://www.portablecomputer.com was shut down. He claimed it was a server issue & that my laptop was in a depot. All their equipment, including my laptop, was taken from his office/house. His statements in my mind are nothing more than false now. I'm relieved that it is in their custody. If any of you have this problem & want to know if the Roseville police department may have your equipment, get in contact with the Roseville Police department. Also, the police may be ordered to send back your laptop / equipment at the expense of the owner (you pay shipping & handling). Otherwise, there is a possibility that it may be returned to Mr. Wesley Forrester along with a court order to have them all sent back (along with refunds I assume) within a certain period of time. Those who may not be able to locate their laptop may have to rely on turning this into a civil matter in a local small claims court. I'll be more than happy to be a witness in your corner.

INTERNET FRAUD ALERT- WWW.PORTABLECOMPUTER.COM buyer BEWARE of portablecomputer.com I sent my toshiba laptop computer to portablecomputer.com on june 27 2005 and have nothing but headaches ever since. Do not deal with this company if at all possible. I want to expose this company. The owner WF is a crook. I called him prior to sending my computer for a repair of the LCD due to a cracked screen. He said he had the part and would have it back to me in about a week or so. so I waited 2weeks. I called to check on the progress. he said that he had to order the part. so i waited somemore. I called numerous times. He keep saying he was going to get the part. He finally got the part. He said he was going to install it and send it a few days later. I waited at this point it is now a month later. I called he said he sent it out. I waited another couple of days and no package. I called him back he said he was going to send me a tracking # through email. Well I waited for that too. Still no package no tracking #. Finally one day I played dumb figuring he is probably stringing others along and most liars cant keep their storys straight. I asked him about my computer and he said he is going to send it out. SO, now I am back to square one. I tell him he has had my computer for almost 2 months and he says its fixed but he still has it. He assures me that he will send it out on the following monday. Why not that day I have no Idea but I say ok. So I call him monday asking for a tracking # believe it or not he gives me one. I was amazed I thought finally its over. NOT so fast. I check UPS.COM their mail carrier for and low and behold the tracking # is invalid. so I call him again. he said that he will check UPS and find out what went wrong. I call back he says yep its a wrong #. They cant locate MY computer and he said he is going to make sure they sent it out. I called him 4 times in one day. the last time I talked to him he said he wasnt leaving his shop until he finds my computer. Also he said that he is going to come up with something he doesnt want to beat around the bush with this anymore. I have tried to call him the last 3 days but now he wont answer the phone. I contacted the California Electronice and repair licencing board and also The BBB in Sacramento. I am hoping for some action through them. I sent other emails out to other unsatisfied customers that have dealt with this company. They have been really helpful. I just want to be done with this already. send back my computer and give me back my $395 DONT DO BUSINESS WITH PORTABLECOMPUTER.COM YOU COULD BE NEXT!!!!!!!!!
