WestGate Resorts Orlando Florida Timeshare Took $700, Lied, Harrassed ripoff Orlando Florida
In August of 2003, my family of 5 took a trip to disney world. When we got there, there are signs everywhere promoting much cheaper tickets if you go tour this timeshare property. We went and there were many sales people there talking to other people. Our salesmans name was ceaser.
It seemed like a great deal if you could afford it. For a low payment, you get to go on vacation and stay in an amazing room, as long as you do it at a certain time, and there is no maintnance care, its already done. Plus, you can go to different places for a fee more all over the world!! We of course thought to ourselves, "wouldnt it be nice if we could afford it".
Well this guy spends 3 hours telling us how there is no risk, and if you decide that you cant pay for it, you can stop payments, and its not a big deal. We were excited, and hoping that this was something that we could do, but we fell on hard times about 6 months after we got home. We called the number on the cards they gave us, and the people on the phone were singing a much different tune than that nice plump man that had spent our valuable time convincing us that it was at no risk to us. We told them what our guide "ceaser" had told us, And to please stop taking this money out of our bank account. Our daughter was ill, and we couldnt afford it.
They basically didn't want to hear it! They would not stop payments, and the bank said that they could do nothing about it. They were going to take money out of our account, and there was nothing we could do. they wouldnt even close our account. So we switched banks, and let that account build an overdrawn balance that got bigger by the day. As soon as they figured out that we werent going to pay anymore, they closed the account and stopped payments. Something they claimed not to be able to do until it became inconvenient for them.
Anyways, when the payments stopped, westgate resorts was having thier people call us 4-5 times a week to harrass us. Each time we told our story, and each time they told us that they dont have control over what someone else has told us, and they wanted thier money. We finally got so frusterated that we shut our house phone down, and changed both numbers on our cell phones. Here we are 3 years later, and they have found us at our new numbers, and even a new address, this time threatening to put it on our credit, and being very rude about it.
DO NOT believe these people when they say there is no risk, and if you decide that you cant afford it, you can just call and tell them to stop taking it from your account! DO NOT give them your bank account info!!! They will tell you what you want to hear until you do what they want you to, and then they tell you that they cannot control what you were told before they got your account info, and that now that they have it, they WILL NOT stop taking your money!!!

The best advice is NEVER buy timeshares anywhere. It is a scam and the so-called timeshare you buy is sold over and over again to other people. It is very difficult to sell your timeshare now and renting isn't in the deal. It will cost you more to buy a timeshare and maintenance fee than to rent a hotel room or a full ownership of a condo. Don't do it.
