The consumer had taken their wheel to a local repair shop to fix their wheel. We inspected the wheel and determined that it was not repairable. There are certain guidelines that we have to work within to maintain the safety of a wheel, and their wheel was considered non repairable. We sent the wheel back to their repair facility. The consumer then had their father bring in the wheel directly to us. It still had our markings on it stating that it is NON-repairable. I told the gentleman that was bringing it in that we could not fix it. I walked away after we had finished our discussion. The customer left. Then the consumer came in and said they were here to pick up the wheel. The wheel was no where to be found. It was never checked in, nor was there any paperwork stating that it was left with us. The consumer swore up and down that his father in law had left it with us. The wheel was not here. I told the customer again that the wheel was non repairable and knowing that why would he leave it with us. This question still remains. The customer left our facility and returned the following Saturday with the Sheriffs Police. I of course had no issues with dealing with them as we had nothing to hide. The Sheriff said we need to come up with solution that will work for both parties. I of course agreed as we are in the business of retaining our customers. I did have a replacement in stock for their vehicle. I did prove to the Sheriff's Police and the customer that the wheel I was going to sell them was not, in fact their non-repairable wheel. The resolution resulted in me selling them the wheel for my inventory for the price it cost to repair their old one. So they got a new wheel for the price it would cost for them to repair their old one. The Sheriff agreed that this was a proper settlement to the situation. There is one last thing I would like to add. I am not a high school drop out. I in fact have degrees in my profession. As you can tell by the way they worded everything in their complaint, you can tell that they are obviously not reasonable people to deal with. -- Roy Scott General Manager Wheels America 3017 Malmo Dr. Arlington Heights, IL 60005
