Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have lived at this complex for 5 years or more. Since Laramer took over, it has went downhill. The street light that is positioned over the parking lot is out and has been out for 6 months or more. When I called to report it, they had the nerve to tell me I had to call Commonwealth Edison to report light that was out. I am renting from this place, it is their job to have working lights on their property. I have already had one incidence with a man stalking around this dark parking lot to which I had to call the police. I live alone and I am a female. There have been some strange people lurking around this parking lot. Why? Because its dark out there. Also, my air condition had leaked water and it went into the walls last summer. I have called the office about this several times, and then maintenance comes over, they say they have to inform the painting crew and still 1 year later nothing is done. On August 9-10 it stormed really bad here and now water is coming through my walls, it looks like mold is forming and I am allergic to mold. I called them August 11, 2006 to tell them again about this wall. She said she would send someone over. It is Friday 8/11/06 4:00P and no one is here yet. Also, my refrigerator keeps making this loud sound, they come over 2 times to check it out. They say it wasn't set right. I have a relative who works on refridgerators and he looked at this one and stated that the motor was going to burn out. Therefore, when it does, who is going to pay for my food. I am sick of calling the office for Maintenance work. I rent here and pay plenty of money for living here in a 2 bedroom and it is the landlords responsibility to fix the problems. I call them and nothing is done so I don't call them. And when I do, it seems the person who answers the phone is inconvenienced by my phone call. They sure were nice when they wanted me to sign the new lease this year. I informed them of these problems then and my lease was renewed in May 2006. Also, the Laundry room--oh thats another issue in itself. All 4 washers work, but only 2 dryers work in Building 1715. And yes, they are now charging us for garbage and gas. I don't know who Laramer is but they are like the slum lords in Chicago. They just want the income, and they don't want to put out any money to get things fixed.

Don't they pay their maintenance guys enough money. One of the maintenance men told me they live here rent free, so that should be enough in itself. Frankly, if nothing is done to rectify these situations real soon, there is going to be a problem. If I come down sick, because of the mold issue, there will be a lawsuit. I am keeping track of every phone call I make to them. I also have paperwork (receipts) of when a maintenance man actually came here. Also, if I get attacked, robbed, or raped because of this parking lot being so dark at night that strange men (who do not leave here) are lurking around, believe me there will be an issue. Like I said the Crest Hill PD are already aware of one incident. Believe me, I always felt safe here, but now I don't. Also, they always hire these young kids who have no clue!!!! And I definitely will be moving out of here and it may be before my lease is up.

I am not for sure about the law in Illinois

but you might try calling the health department regarding the mold in the walls. I believe they will be worried about it since it can easily move into the other apartments, or condos. The health department (at least in CA) can force the management/landlord to do something about the mold right away. As for everything else I hope you are taking very good notes regarding all of the problems and that they refuse to do anything about it. Again I don't know about the laws there, but since you have signed a lease, you should be able to sue them for not following through on the terms of the lease. I assume that they have something in the lease stating who is responsible for repairs and maintenance to the property, and what you must do when making a complaint. They would sue you if you tried to get out of your lease early, so why not threaten to sue them for not fulfilling thier obligations. You should research the laws in your state regarding landlords, I am sure you will find something to help you.
