Models and talents! Beware of signing up with World Management Group (WMG-Agency) former Stylus Canada Corp.

This is a ripoff company that uses scam operation-like tactics.

They will ask you to pay money up-front in form of management fees, for the head shots, etc. promising the fast track in a modeling career.

The chances are, you'll be completely forgotten the next moment after you pay the money.

Nobody will contact you, return your phone calls or reply to you email.

Most likely you won't receive any attention, any kind of service, or the head shot materials at all.

If you'll get lucky enough and get into a commercial, you're going to have a very hard time to get paid for your work, if get paid at all.In fact, the long delays with issuing the payments to the models for the work they've done, and multiple complains prompted ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television and Radio Artist) to include Stylus Canada in the No Pay List http://www.actratoronto.com/become/agentnochequelist.htm

To distance themselves with the mounting issues and claims from the customers/models at the end of 2008 Stylus Canada changed the name (as it was frequently done before) to World Management Group (WMG-Agency).

However, don't be fooled by this change.

World Management Group (WMG-Agency) is managed and operated by the same people including:

Thomas Tharakan (managing director),

Randy Chartrand - who was closely involved in the Showcase of America "talent search" in Western Canada http://www.highprairietimes.com/october3006/october3006newsfour.html that left hundreds of young people with broken dreams and their parent with emptied pockets.

Cynthia Cully - agency director.

Stylus Canada lured my son Kevin into signing the modeling agreement and convinced him to pay for the head shots. All together more than $700.

It took almost three months for Stylus to admit that the head shots were either lost or totally corrupted.

Meanwhile, according to photographer, Sean Beckingham, all digital materials from photo shoot were provided to Stylus a week after the shoot took place.

Another photo shoot was scheduled and took place in November.

The same result. Nothing is happening. There are no head shots (prints or hi-res. digital images) and of course, no auditions or any other activities whatsoever.

Almost six months later, and over $700 short the decision is clear - to rescind the contract with Stylus Canada according to the conditions of the Agreement and the provisions of the "Consumer Protection Act, 2002", and to request a full refund.

Stylus Canada didn't reply to the registered letter with the official Notification of cancelation of the Agreement and didn't refund any money.

Stylus Canada / WMG Agency totally ignores the fact of filing the Claim with Toronto Small Claims Court in January 2009.

In February 2009 Toronto Small Claims Court issued a default judgement against Stylus Canada for damaged for the total amount close to $900, and notified Stylus Canada / WMG Agency directly.

Stylus Canada / WMG Agency true to their tactics of scam-like operation, ignored the decision of Toronto Small Claims Court and didn't refund any money.

It doesn't take any phone calls. Fax number was disabled.

Models, be aware! If you've been scouted by Randy Chartrand, Cynthia Cully, or someone else on their behalf, or if you're planning to sing up with the modeling agency managed by Thomas Tharakan (company name doesn't matter) most likely you'll be fooled around and ripped off the same way.

Instead, look for the reputable modeling agency that doesn't frequently change the legal name, addresses, phone numbers, etc. but builds the good name and business relations with the clients, customers and business partners for years.
