In December 2012, I placed an order for a Kohler K-850-0 Tea for Two 5 Bathtub in White from Plumbing Depot at www.plumbingdepot.com.  I did receive the bathtub in January.  Since my unit was gutted to the studs and going through a total remodel, for safekeeping we kept the bathtub crated until ready to install.  The bathtub is 60 x 32 x 18.2 and shipping weight is 356 pound.  Large and heavy.

When we uncrated the bathtub, we noticed a chip on the bottom of the tub.  This is a cast iron tub!  The reason I purchased a cast iron tub was so nothing could go wrong with it.  My contractor called Plumbing Depot as soon as he noticed the chip.  They told us to file a claim with the trucking company.

The damage is not shipping damage.  It is a defective tub.  I called and talked to Jay at Plumbing Depot and told him I wasnt going to file a claim with the trucking company because it was not damaged in the delivery.  Told Jay there was a chip on the bottom of the tub that looked like a smudge and the tub was bluish where is was not casted correctly or enough layers to cover up the cast iron.

He would not do anything about it.  He told me that if the manufacturer, Kohler, credited their account, they would credit mine.  It is defective!  It has a bluish tint.  That did not matter to him.  He didnt care if it was defective.  He would wait and see what the manufacturer would do.

Asked about their 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.  They would not honor this guarantee.

I asked him that since they sold me a defective tub, I needed another tub.  I didnt have time to wait and see if the manufacturer would credit them and then he would credit me.  I have given notice on my rental and had to move.  A bathtub is a necessity before moving.  I asked if he would sell me another tub at the price I paid in December.  The price had gone up $250.  No.  They would not.  I had to pay the full price regardless of my needing to buy another tub because they shipped me a defective tub!

Several days later he emailed me and said they would email a Return Authorization Number.  On their website, it says I would have the RA # within 2 4 days.  4 days later I called and was told I would have the number within 24 hours.  2 days later I emailed and asked when would I receive the number.  Within 24 hours.  Every 48 hours I was told I would have the RA # within 24 hours.

Finally after an angry email from me, they emailed me a RA #.  No info as to whom to contact or a contact # to contact whoever would be shipping the tub back to them.

This company sells defective product.  They will not honor their 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.  They will not make right what they have done wrong nor take any responsibility for their wrong doing! The only thing they care about is their bottom line, their profits, without regard to the customer.

Plumbing Depot sold me a defective tub, will not replaced the defective bath tub nor re-imburse me for the defective tub they sold me.

The delay in needing to order an additional tub, waiting for delivery, and having to pay additional rent (can move into new home without a bathtub) has caused a greater expense.  The price went up at the beginning of 2013.  Increased what I had to pay for a tub.

Given that this is clearly a manufacturing defect, I would call up Kohler and see what they have to say.  They might be more helpful than the dealer.
