Complaint Review: Young &Happy Hostel - Paris

THE YOUNG & STEAL YOUR S**T HOSTEL

SOMEBODY BROKE INTO OUR ROOM AND STOLE OUR STUFF. went through all of our luggage(that was locked) and STOLE my LAPTOP. They cut through the zippers and went through our stuff, grabbed what they could and left. The only way into the rooms is with a magnetic key card. It was an inside job for sure because the only other people with a key card were the staff (Master Key Card). They STOLE my MACBOOK ... So, to begin this awful experienceFirst we arrive to this so called "Young and Happy Hostel" with high spirits and an eagerness to explore the town. Let me first say that this is not my first time to Paris, and that I am familiar with the area. My friend and I go to check in to our room however it is before check in time. A man greets us with high spirits and a warm welcome, to begin our check in process. I originally booked a 6 bedroom dorm with a shared bathroom, but to no avail this gentleman tells us he has upgraded us to a private room! We are ecstatic as we had been traveling for a while at this point. We gladly accept the upgrade and explore the city as we had a few hours before checking in. Left our luggage in the luggage room and everything was fine. Grabbing our stuff, one of the staff members sketchily says "oh you have a lot of luggage and smiles"-we thought nothing of this. We get into our tiny room drop our stuff off and go to grab dinner. Leaving the room I turn around and close the door MAKING SURE THE DOOR WAS LOCKED by trying to open it again after it had been closed. It was locked. While we were at dinner SOMEBODY BROKE INTO OUR ROOM, WENT THROUGH ALL OF OUR LUGGAGE (THAT WAS LOCKED) AND STOLE MY LAPTOP. THEY CUT THROUGH THE ZIPPERS OF THE LUGGAGE GRABBED WHAT THEY COULD AND LEFT. THE ONLY WAY INTO THE ROOMS IS WITH A MAGNETIC KEY CARD. IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB AND THE STAFF WAS MOST CERTAINLY IN ON IT BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET INTO ANOTHER PERSONS ROOM (MASTER KEYCARD). MY STOMACH DROPS AS I REALIZE ALL MY PERSONAL PHOTOS, DATA, AND MEMORIES ARE GONE FOREVER. I IMMEDIATELY RUN DOWNSTAIRS AND REPORT THE PROBLEM. I MAKE THE ONLY EMPLOYEE THERE TAKE ME THROUGH EACH ROOM AND CHECK EACH PERSONS BAG. MY COMPUTER IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. AFTER DOING THIS THAT SAME EMPLOYEE LEAVES THE HOSTEL AND ANOTHER LADY CHECKS IN TO WORK THE NIGHT SHIFT. After making a POLICE REPORT, we switched to an AirBnB, which was fantastic. We demanded to get a REFUND and after a battle with the manager (who was gone all weekend) about her taking time out of her "BUSY DAY" to talk with us for 5 minutes to make sure we got our refund it was clear. I had her email me declaring she would refund us the money. PEOPLE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS PLEASE, IM TRYING TO HELP YOU OUT. THE SHOWERS DONT HAVE SHOWER HEADS ON THEM, YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PRESS A BUTTON TO GET WATER SHOT AT YOUR HEAD THROUGH A PIPE, JUST A PIPE. WORST HOSTEL IVE EVER STAYED AT IN MY LIFE. IF YOU WANT TO RISK YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS, SPACE, AND LIVELIHOOD THAN STAY HERE BY ALL MEANS, BUT I FOREWARNED YOU.... STAY WAS FROM JAN 16-19 2016. EXCUSE MY FRENCH BUT F*** THIS PLACE.
