We received a check delivered to our door from the U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail from YOUPPL INC. in Henderson, Nevada.
The check was from Transamerica Life Insurance Adminstrative Office. It was a Chase check. We deposited the check and it bounced. It was a relatively small check.
We had called Transamerica previously to see if the check was real, as we had no known business with them. However, we are a business that has been around for many years and Transamerica said that the money may have left to us, or an earlier policy.
Today, Transamerica said the check was a fake and they had received another similar report that morning.
I am not blaming Transamerica. The check appears to have been send by a company called YOUPPL INC. in Henderson, Nevada. There was a phone number of 515-259-3031 on the envelope. When I called it, an electronic voice asked me to state my name and Google Voice would try to connect me.
I didn't state my name and hung up. I don't know what this scam is, but this check was not a Transamerica check.
I have reported this to the U.S. Postal Inspectors as Mail Fraud this morning. Feel free to contact me through RipOff Report if you are law enforcement.
I have copies of everything, including the envelope it came in.
