I explained before driving from Princeton I was disable and just needed a car I didn't need to throw more money in. I never met Peter or George the entire deal was through the young lady running the parts store who was nice but had no answers.

Within 24 hours of having the car the check engine light came on and it would not accelerate. I spoke to both Peter and George who offered to pay half of the $1000 plus repair bill. Fortunately I had a friend who turned the light out free of charge and it didn't come back on but still had the acceleration issue.

I called George first he told me to take it in to a reasonable shop which I shopped and did, and have it looked at and he would help. Both George and Peter seemed to be very good people.

All four motor mounts were completely broke and two of the Michelin tires were broken in the tread and very dangerous to drive. Had the car been truly inspected all of this would have been found. The car was not detailed as I was promised but I'll get help and do this myself.

I understand used cars are sold as is but with ethics. Had I called them 2-3 weeks down the road I unstood it was a used car sold as is but I called in less than 24 hours and was asked to wait 7-10 days because both have full time jobs and it would be a Saturday before they could get me in and I would still have to leave it a minimum of 3 days.

I am in my 27th week of chemo and having at least 5 stents placed in my heart this coming Tuesday the 15th, I need sound transportation. They did pay $400 of a bill that was much less than half stating because they had given me such a good deal on the car.. I have only been in the auotmotive space professionally for 42 plus years and know how business works inside and out..

This was handled unethically in every way, All used cars are As Is when sold but there is also a thing called being ethical to customers in hopes of sending referrals but just doing ther right thing. They didn't even try this in the slightest.

I would beware and hope they take this situation and learn. I told them I spent every dime I had to buy this for medical reasons and they took full advantage. of the situation. I asked them several times and have it in text if they were sure they wanted tio go this route. George said yes $400 period! So now I'll do my part to get the wprd out there..Places like this give good lots a bad name.

...you could have just written "I understand the purchase was As Is."  Because that's the only thing in your entire post that matters.  It does not matter that you don't have money to waste, it doesn't matter that you need reliable transportation, and it doesn't matter that in your mind "As Is" includes the phrase "With Ethics."  "As Is" means exactly that - "As Is."  If you are going to buy a car like this, it's on you to take it to be checked out by a mechanic before finalizing the deal.

And no, I'm really not interested in hearing that you were in a hurry, or that you're trusing, or that the seller promised something orally, or that he seemed honest, or that he threatened to withdraw the offer if you didn't agree to buy inside of five minutes.  None of that detracts from what I wrote.
