Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Put a deposit on a car I was purchasing. When I returned to pick up the car the owner, "Leb" tried to charge me $500 more than he had quoted me. Didn't have it in writing because I was referred there from a former friend and customer of Lebs.

So, by the time I drove the car home the check engine light came on. I took it to Auto Zone. They gave me the codes which indicated a transmission problem. I called Leb and he said "bring the car in right away and don't drive it any further." "By the way the transmission is not under warranty "

Leb looks at it and tells me the part the transmission needs is discontinued and I would have to replace the whole transmission. He was SO nice to offer to install it free and all I had to do was pay for the used transmissions ($600)! UNREAL!!! But wait! There's more!!!

I asked him what was the name of the "discontinued" part. Well in 15 minutes I found it on EBay for $80! Well if by now you haven't figured out this guy is a thief and unscrupulous business owner. He assumes we are all dumb and do not know anything about cars. For the sake of my good friend who refered me and is unfortunately is a long time Gas customer and friend of the crook, LEB. I did not sue his crooked a*s. A month later I got the car back and a $400 tab. Unbelievable! Well after another $1200 of repairs, thank God someone hit me and totaled the car. The insurance company told me that if I have the receipt for the transmission they could add that to the actual cash value of the car. I lost my copy and asked Leb if he could send me a picture or copy of the original receipt. After 4 phone calls, 5 texts and two weeks later I got a little upset and sent him a text saying WTF? WELL! Leb threatened me and then told me "I better not ever call or text him again!" This loser would not even respond to the adjusters phone call to verbally confirm the repair.

How do crooks like this stay in business? I guess they need the money so bad that they figure they can screw anyone and they won't say anything.

Its just a matter of time this broke a*s loser will be out of business.

You are correct, I should have gotten the terms on paper before putting a down payment. I will never trust just the word of mouth recommendation from a friend. As far as getting it checked out from a mechanic, Leb was supposedly a reputable mechanic. He is the owner of the service station. He told me he checked the car out before I took it. I believe he just reset the "check engine" light before I took it. But anyway what reputable business owner "Leb" would sell a vehicle that broke down the same day, and then try and charge him ANYTHING, never mind an additional 600 for a used transmission, all it needed was $80 part? I would tell anyone not to buy a car here! They do not stand by there cars. Apparently someone 10 years ago in this forum had a similar "Dishonest" encounter with BROTHERS GAS and LEB! Buyer Beware!

Most sales of used cars are as-is, which means that he is totally right that he doesn’t have to help you at all. It’s your mistake for not getting it checked out by a mechanic. Furthermore, he can charge any price he wants for parts and services. If you think it’s too much, your remedy is to go somewhere else. He may have given you a bad deal and a bad car, but your complaint calls him a crook and implies that he broke the law. The only thing here that might be illegal is changing the price after you made the deal, but since you can’t prove that happened, it is unlikely you can do anything about it. You should not have made a down payment without getting the full terms in writing.
