Derry Maglieri of The Hartford insurance company is someone who takes advantage of those who are dependent on their worker’s compensation benefits. More specifically, Derry stopped my weekly benefits by basically fraudulently taking my doctors orders of no work and changing the translation to me being able to work.

All for The Hartford’s benefit. Once confronted Derry reactivated my weekly benefits but only for the amount of her choosing. I did not receive my full missed benefits. So in other words Derry and The Hartford got what they wanted. Either stopping benefits or paying less then the approved amount is the name of their game.

I cannot speak about everybody in that industry, but if you have a claim, and Derry ends up being your claim adjuster, I would ask for another adjuster immediately. Save yourself the headache. Derry is not there to help you!!!

The adjuster works for the insurance company and as such, their loyalty is to them and NOT you! It is their job to cause the insurance company to get away by paying as little as possible! You certainly have a legal option here.

Many attorneys practice in the areas of WC and do so on a contingency basis which means they don't get paid unless they win. You might wish to run this by one of them. They usually have a free consultation.

LT or ST Disability??

I'm guessing at this point you're talking about either Long-Term, or Short-term disability insurance payments from the insurance company, for which either you or your company paid the policy premiums.  Let's keep in mind the insurance company's job is to pay out the least amount needed in a disability case - regardless of your situation.

That is their job and it doesn't matter who the adjustor is, nor does it matter which insurance company it is.  All ST disability and most LT disability policies work pretty much the same way.  Blaming one insurance company and one adjustor - is irrelevant.

If you really want to either recover your missing benefit, or try to get what you think you should get, then I would speak with an attorney - possibly either an attorney specializing in disability cases, or a personal injury lawyer.  Bring your insurance docs with you for the attorney to review and let the attorney tell you what you think you should be able to receive.

The attorney may be able to negotiate their fee with the insurance company, so it doesn't cost you as much out of pocket, especially if you're talking about a LT policy.  For a ST policy, you may wish to discuss with the attorney whether it's worth pursuing - it may not be if you're not going to be out for very long.

Best of luck to you.....
