Amount Paid To Uniden $89.95. Uniden committed to provide repair. Uniden sent back the unit allegedly repaired, Unit failed within 5 minutes of operation. I immediately took the batteries out and emailed my contact in customer service, they advised me to send it back.
I should expect an emailed FedEx label and use that, no instructions on how to package etc, I sent the unit back but not in the box Uniden sent it back to me in as I had forgotten to take that box with me, having little funds
I opted for a padded envelope I can't say for sure but I believe it was already wrapped in bubble wrap they had returned it to me in . Sometime went by before I had this update "The case number is 4796. Estimated return ship date as of right now is 7/19/22"
and than just the other day I received this from Kristie at Uniden Support.
"I received an email from the repair department to let me know the 90 day repair warranty will be voided. There is physical damage to the SMA antenna connector. The repair fee is going to be $69.95. I have attached photos of the damage they found".
" I wrote back that prior to shipment there was no damage to the SMA, hell the only reason I sent it back is because of the failed repair. I see this as something that merits investigating, why is it that I’m responsible for damages that may have occurred during shipment, isn’t the shipment insured?
Sources tell me that that damage could have occurred by simply dropping the unit, although it was in a padded envelope, but after speaking with Uniden Tech Supervisor Caleb, he informs me that corporate does not believe the damage occurred in shipment, therefore if it was not damaged upon receipt and it was not damaged in shipment that only leaves the finger pointed to me which as I have told him non verbally I am willing to sign an affidavit that I did not drop or damage it in any way prior to shipping it.
At this point Caleb nor anyone else at Uniden Repair Center is responding to email inquiries. I wish to add This scanner has sentimental value to me as it was one of the things I was able to take with me when I was evacuated from the wildfire that destroyed my home in 2020. I paid for it to be repaired and it was not repaired the first time being the reason I had to risk sending it back,
Their only solution they are offering is to pay them more money or they will send me back the unit in its present condition not repaired. At this time the only desired outcome I would like is if the unit is repaired and includes a warranty, I should not have to pay an additional fee. I have sent an inquiry asking if I pay the fee will they include another 90 day warranty and repair the unit to factory specs, so far now answer. At time being on a limited income I would have to borrow the money to pay the fee.
Reinstate my warranty and fix the unit the proper way or refund me my money for a repair that was not done properly.
